How ebay's International Shipping program charge buyer shipping fee?

I recently received email from eBay about their new International Shipping program.

Usually I offer free shipping for small items. Thus I don't have package dimensions and weight in the listing.

Just wondering when an international buyer order the item, how much eBay will charge for international shipping? Considering they don't have the package dimensions and weight info.

Thanks!

ebay can only charge what you provide in your listing. If you don't show anything, the potential foreign buyer will see a message to the effect that the seller sells internationally but has not specified the shipping cost.  If you want your international transactions to go smoothly, provide the shipping information in your listings.

Just like with the old GSP program they guess based on the Category, I can assure you they usually guess high so it's in your best interest (and the buyer) to include the weight and dimensions in the listing so that eBay can accurately charge the foreign buyer. This would be especially true if you use Flat Rate shipping where you normally don't need to include this information.

An exception would be if you are listing in the Pillow Category but your pillows are made of concrete.

Best to input dimensions; you can use the same size for multiple items easily when you 'bulk' edit;

then choose something like:

15 oz; 16x12x6 for 1st Class Packages

Then 1 lb 8 oz, then 2 lb 8 oz, then 3 lb 8 oz with dimensions UNDER 22" in length and the combined size not exceeding 1 cu. ft. (as most shipping is $X for items 1 lb to 2lbs; $Y for items 2 lbs 1 oz to 3 lbs 0 oz; $Z for items 3 lbs 1oz to 4 lbs (and so on)

     As others noted they estimate based on a data repository. If you notice on your listings in the shipping area you can enter your own weight and dimensions but there is also an estimate you can apply. If you don't enter anything I would guess that those figures are the ones that eBay applies to the shipment which as others have noted are probably on the high side.
