A vintage snapshot photo of an Israel fighter with an UZI. How can you figure out what a collector would even pay for something like this? It's all a guessing game. The "Don't price it high" crowd will chime in. What is high? lol What is low? 😛

With the advent of the internet I can get ANY photo of ANY era and print it in ANY size for the price of the paper & ink.
I can't, in my WILDEST dreams, understand why ANYONE would pay a nickel for an 'old photo' that can be had by the Millions for free on the internet??
I think it is the difference between collecting content and collecting the objects themselves.
If it's simply the content of a an old book that is needed, say, it can probably be found digitized on the web. But a book collector is interested in the book in and of itself -- its edition, binding, illustrations, bookplates, marginalia, and so on.
Same with a photo: One wanted just for content can be found on the web and printed off, but some people are interested in the photograph as an object in and of itself.

Google Image Translate returned this, regarding the printing/stamping on the back:
True, and the photo itself seems unremarkable, but its collectability, if any, would be in owning that particular printed photo on its aged paper.

Just look at the kid and the hat and you know it is a posed photo, perhaps a tourist kid. The Uzi was not around pre-1948. The hair is way, way too long to be a boy or man in the 1940-50s. That hat was mainly worn in agriculture on kibbutzim, not in Ramat Gan, and needless to say it doesn't fit. The sweater also screams kibbutz. And what is up with the buttoned up shirt? Not to mention the cherubic cheeks. That face is not that of a combatant. By the way, the stamp on the back of the photo just gives the address of some photo shop in Ramat Gan although the phone number is older so maybe it is a young woman posing back in the late 1950s but women did not often wear buttoned up mens shirts.

I am not sure why you are saying I listed it as NRMT-MT or better. I say for every listing, "The item is NRMT-MT or better unless otherwise described." I describe it as being creased. I have not had time to check your link to see what I can find out. Thanks for your help! I've been busy posting & lining up sales on the site that actually brings me sales - Marketplace. 🙂 Have a good night.

What about old posters? Feel the same way? Just print one off. Who cares about the age or if it was original? Maybe some see more value in their collection if they have an original 1-of photo instead of a worthless reprint? lol

One reason why you have no success on Ebay. Buyers do not want to hear NM or better then go on to say it is not NM or better. I would remove the verbiage from all your listings. So you decided $43 for a single photo ? Good luck with that.

I am unsure what the problem is
to me if I were to be honest it looks like this
baby faced schoolboy in a sweater with a weird hat holding a gun
this person does not look like much of a fighter if you ask me
any price you can think of sounds good

That way he can come on here and rant that nothing sells on eBay. It is his thing.

And I would add:
That, and selling without research.
Anyone selling the good old stuff needs to research it. The better the research, the higher the profit. (And, yes, that includes research results that reveal the item is something not worth listing, after all.) The market needs a bit of research, too, to learn what to emphasize to attract buyers for the particular items.
Lazy sellers are great for resellers, though. When I was an active seller, some of my most profitable finds were on eBay -- lackluster listings with no effort behind them, no research, that gave me something great for a song. I used to design searches based on misspellings, on items with dates that were impossible for them, and so on.
I once bought something for $22 (with shipping) and sold it for $725 (plus shipping). Did I feel guilty? Not a bit of it. Ten or fifteen minutes on the web and the seller would have discovered the worth of what she had.

I have to know - did that kid get into Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin?

Looking at that face, my guess would be Hufflepuff. Definitely not mean enough for Slytherin.

Hi, went to Worthpoint to see what i could find out on value. Similar vintage photos ran the gamut from $7.80 up to $71.

As with everything on this planet, its value is what a willing seller and a willing buyer agree on in a transaction.
You as the seller influence the value by the story which you attach to the item.
The more you know about this photo and the story you use these facts to tell the greater the attractiveness to a buyer and the greater the potential price you can get for the item.
The date helps, but it is not necessarily the determining factor in the price. Obviously, it the young man in the picture has grown up to be a well known person, that would affect the value. Were the picture was taken might enhance the value.
Often the things which command a higher price are not obvious from the item, but may come from where it was found, from who it was purchased and other factors which are not shown on the item itself.
When selling ephemera the best story tellers are often the most successful.
