I have a piece of gymnastic equipment that I want to sell on eBay. I want to specify local pick up only and would prefer that the person to pay cash for it as I don't have a way to accept credit cards. How do I arrange that? Or could the person come and see the item, then use their phone to arrange to buy it through their eBay app? So far I just have the listing in draft form. I'm new to eBay and am just looking for suggestions / help.

While you do have to still offer an online payment method, you can still request cash on pick up, Ebay allows that.Tho if the buyer wants to pay thru PP, you must accept that, canceling the transaction will earn you a defect..Ive had several local pick up only on big ticket items, and have accepted cash and PP, no problems either way.
Sellers may also accept cash for local pickup purchases. After you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll send an email with a Local Pickup code (a QR code and a 6 digit code) to your Messages. You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you’ve picked up …

I suggest you do local pickup elsewhere. It's a mess here at eBay at the moment, you'll have to cancel a half dozen people expecting free shipping.
If you do it, just be prepared for a lot of annoying buyers pretending they don't know it was for pickup only.
