How do I get people to add feedback?

When I sell an item, ship it and know the buyer has received it, No one ever leaves feedback. I have 1175 positives 100 % ,and I don't understand why no feedback is left. I leave it as soon as the buyer pays for the item, but wait to see if the item is acceptable when I buy. Am I being silly or do I actually need Feedback? Is it permissable to ask the buyer if he is pleased with the transaction?

Thanks

Are you selling widgets or FB?

What can you do with 1176 that you canm't do with 1175?

Be careful asking for FB.  You just might get it.

There are a dozen or so more cliches that come up on these threads, but I'll leave them for others to post.

Lets get them out of the way 🙂

What is 1456 going to do for you that 1455 doesn't?

The truth is that the only thing you can do is ... do the best job that you can do.

Ship on time, pack neatly, carefully and professionally, be polite and professional in all of your communications and most of all be honest in your dealings.

Underpromise and over deliver.

My feedback rate runs at about 40% .... as long as nobody is complaining, I'm good with that 🙂

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

Asking the buyer if they are pleased with the transaction is never a good idea. You might receive a nasty response for you efforts. It's been mentioned numerous times, feedback is completely optional, and neither party has to leave each other any if they choose not to.

Re: How do I get people to add feedback?

Is there a 'club' of users that get together - figuratively or literally -  and draw straws to see who is the 'poster of the week' about "Why doesn't everybody leave me feedback"?

If someone has over 1000 fb, wouldn't one think that they would .... oh, never mind.

Sheesh!

According to the list, your turn should be the 6th.

I'm the 11th.

Re: How do I get people to add feedback?

The way for you to get a larger percent of your customers to leave feedback is for all other sellers to leave feedback for a larger percent of their customers.

The main reason we have feedback for buyers is that it causes more buyers to leave feedback when sellers participate.

Re: How do I get people to add feedback?

I am sorry that some if the answers you get from the posters on this board seem to be flippant from users who have nothing else to do but sit on these boards 24/7 and think that they are being helpful. Some are. You can plainly see the ones that aren’t and are turning these boards into Facebook. It’s like a club, Always the same ones. Did any of the club members ever give a thought to the fact that you may be new to these boards and do not realize that this subject has been tossed around a bit. Again, my sincere apologies for the rudeness you have to endure just for trusting that you can come here, ask a question, and get your answer. This is not to minimize the ones that showed some class and did try to be helpful.

Good luck and hopefully you haven’t been turned off.

And, did YOU happen to notice that the OP has been a member since 2003?  Perhaps the member is new to the boards - now they can consider themselves lucky to have finally found them.

Re: How do I get people to add feedback?

Upon occasion, one may come to the boards and find some that have earned the free time to be here to possibly help out other folks.  Many have retired from successful careers, some may be retired from multiple successful careers.  Often, they prefer not to merely lurk, but to attempt to offer hints, suggestions or insights into behaviours that may influence transactions.

Then, again, one can run into all kinds here - just as one does on the street or in a store or at a family dinner.
