How do I get eBay to call me?

I just put an item for sale on my account today.   Now my account is suspended for breaching policy.   eBay wants to connect with me to answer a few questions.  I go all the way through the help/contact fields to the 'get us to call you' but it will only take a US/Canada country phone number.  I am in the UK.  My whole profile is filled with UK details.  I even get the verification codes to my UK phone when I sign in, so why can't I get past that field that needs a US/Canada phone number?

Is there any other way to reach the customer service team?

Re: How do I get eBay to call me?

You are trying to contact ebay on the USA site try logging out and go to eBay.co.uk instead.

You've wandered into the realm of ebay.com. Welcome!

It appears as though you are registered and list/sell exclusively on ebay.co.uk. Because there are subtle differences in the two platforms, it may be better for you to head on over to the ebay.co.uk discussion forum.

Here's the link, if you decide to do so!

Slight clarification:  this is not the USA site. It's the ebay.com site. It serves anyone who lists/sells on ebay.com, no matter where in the world they are located.

I doubt the US phone number is going to help a UK seller contact the UK site.........which is what the seller is trying to do.......perfectly proper to refer her to the UK site........ "It serves anyone who lists/sells on ebay.com, no matter where in the world they are located." is  confusing in this instance.......  my opinion.

You need UK support.  Go here:  https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/contact_us?id=4822&st=10

Click chat with automated assistant on the left.  When the chat box comes up, click see more, then contact an Ebay representative.   You can also type "agent" into the chat box.  After you do that you can choose a call back or a live chat.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: How do I get eBay to call me?

Oops thought I spelled it out. Thanks for the clarification 🙌👍

I’m blaming it on a senior moment. 😂

I guess I sent the OP in the wrong direction. OP said they’re in the UK. So I thought that was the best place to go since she/he couldn’t get a UK based phone number in for a call back.

Thanks for expressing  your opinion; however, I think my two posts may have been misunderstood.

And that's exactly what I did. I referred the OP to the ebay.co.uk discussion forum and provided a link in a reply to him/her.

My post was a reply to ebooksdiva--not to the OP--to point out that this is not a "USA" site. It's an ebay.com site. It seems ebooksdiva was confused about the target community of this forum, so I was clarifying that for him/her.

Just to reiterate:

  • I referred the OP to the ebay.co.uk discussion board, since s/he is registered on that platform.
  • I clarified to ebooksdiva that this site is for anyone who lists/sells on ebay.com, no matter where they are located. It is not a "USA" site or forum.

Is either of those statements incorrect?

Thank goodness I never have one of those. 😂

Or try the social media Chats run by actual employees rather than subcontractors.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-do-I-contact-Customer-Support/m-p/32016431#M1783851 -> Automated Assistant, type AGENT -> enter. You will then get more options.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

But do start by asking if they are knowlegable about UK standards and rules.

They are good but dealing with them from Canada has led to some confusion.

You know, I hesitated to recommend Facebook/Twitter for that very reason. Maybe someone can address the subject of whether those specific reps are versed in the policies/procedures for platforms other than ebay.com.

Great recommendation, unless the ebay.co.uk customer service reps are as, um, ill-trained as the ebay.com reps. 😂

Re: How do I get eBay to call me?

That's nice devon@ebay

But the problem is not getting through, it is that British law differs in many ways from US law, and from Canadian laws.

For example,  the UK and Canada each have a national sales tax (VAT and GST) which doesn't exist in the USA.

Do the  Chat reps (who have been very helpful in the occasional problem I have brought to them) have specific training in helping us furriners who may or may not list on dotCOM?

How can we be shuttled to those specifically trained reps?
