Person made an offer on a local pickup only item. How can I find out at least what state they are in? When I look up their user ID it just says, Member since: Mar-10-16 in United States. Why can't Ebay be more specific about a buyers location than United States. I don't want to go through the hassle cancelling the sale and refunding the payment plus pay the Paypal fee if this person is across the country and won't come get it.

Ask.

Does the buyer's zip no longer show when a best offer is made? I take offers, but I honestly don't remember if it's there or not because I don't look for it specifically.

I think it might show you after you click the reply button. I know it was that way recently, but ebay is ever changing.

Yes the location/zip code shows by the buyers account name when you click on - respond to offer. If you go to your messages and reread the original offer message you can click on respond to offer again, then you should see the buyers location and zip code.

I would ask the buyer first to be sure. I had a best offer come in Saturday and they were requesting a quantity of three. Since their offer was lower than I wanted, I counter-offered but wanted to also make sure they knew the shipping costs for all three items together since they were heavy and according to the Best Offer page, the buyer was in California (clear across the country from me) so the cost could be high. I sent the information in the counter-offer, but then when I looked at the offer history screen, the zip code showing on my counter-offer was New York! So then I needed to send a message to them because I didn't know which location was correct.
I don't know where eBay is picking up the zip code for these two scenarios, but something isn't working right!
Also, eBay does not make the original offer record available to us in Offer History - WHY NOT? The only record shown is the last offer which was my counter-offer! Called customer service and they couldn't even see what the original offer was and what zip code was shown on it. So, do a screen print and save it somewhere because it's the last you'll see of it. I did have some of the information in an email, but it didn't show the zip code.
