Link Issues Resulting in Ebay Messages

eBay will send you a message to correct listings that have an unauthorized LINK in the listing. These messages have come up here and there in my listings and always, I am directed to the HTML format to correct the problem.

What I found out today from a wonderful eBay customer service rep was this:

He asked me if I CUT and PASTE any info from the Internet in any of my listings.

My answer was YES.

His solution, going forward, is to cut and paste to a word document, save it, then cut and paste from the word document to your listing. This way, all the HTML info does not follow from the Internet website.

In my case, it was a generic safety warning for a series of items that a customer should know, plus a California warning for the same items. I had them coded in my templates and over time I kept getting the message from eBay that due to links, I had to revise my listings.

So, cut and paste if you need to  from an Internet source to a Word document, then cut and paste from the Word document to your listing.

My corrections included doing the above and pasting to any listings I had and also to any templates that had the same potential problems.

One other thing, if you, like me sell components of brand name items, you may find that the components are made by a different manufacturer. Sometimes listing a brand name and its model number in the heading and them listing a brand number and part number of a component may cause the same problem. Now I simply take a good photo of the component showing the other manufacturers information rather than typing it into my description.
