How do I contact a member?

How do I contact a member who is bidding on an item I have listed?  Unfortunately, I can't find the item and I want to end listing to avoid buyer paying and then I have to return the money.  However, my effort to contact him has been unsuccessful.

How do I contact a member?

Best bet would be to cancel the bid and end the auction

Make sure there is more then 12 hours left on the auction

Note  you may end up paying the fees on this also since you did have a bid. .

Message 2 is spot on. You don't need to give the buyer a heads up. Cancel bids and then cancel the transaction. Message the buyer you can't find the item is the reason the listing was cancelled, that you're still going to look for it and if you find it you'll relist it and contact them you found it in case they're still interested.

I would Message the buyer first and allow them to retract their bid.

With no bids, you should be able to Revise the listing.

Cancelling it, after Messaging, is a sensible move, but sometimes makes the bots decide you were selling off-eBay.

An auction that has received a bid can't be revised even if the bid is canceled or retracted.

If the seller can't find the item, then what's the point of revising the auction -- it should just be canceled. And why should there be a retraction on the buyer's record when this situation is the responsibility of the seller?

So I agree with the above advice -- just cancel the listing. When you start the cancellation process, if there's more than 12 hours left you'll get the option to cancel the bids and end with no sale.

And to answer your original question: Every member's feedback page has a link for 'Contact member."
