How do I communicate with eBay about something that is being sold that is dangerous?

There are very many so-called marine sextant-like-objects being sold on eBay. As decoration they're nice, if you like that. But they are often represented as fully functional or a variation on that theme, the idea being that they can be used as sextants for celestial navigation. Two problems: they're not real sextants and are not even remotely accurate enough for navigation. And celestial navigation often involves looking at the sun. Real sextants have several shades so that looking at the sun can be done safely. The shades on many of these sextants are obviously inadequate. If any sort of magnification is used, then injury looking at the sun through inadequate filters is immediate and the user partially blinded. 

To my way of thinking, these imitation sextants must not make any claims of functionality, and the listings should contain warnings about use. Listings lacking such deleted, and sellers who persist banned. Maybe not among the world's larger problems, but does eBay care to assume liability for blinding?

I saw some that were listed as New and then Vintage in the same title.  Most coming from and manufactured overseas.  I believe most of these ones are just replicas.

Just leave it up to the marketplace. 

Anyone who actually knows how to use it would know what you know in 2 seconds of picking it up.

Anyone who doesn't know how to use a real sextant to navigate has no business messing around with something like that on a dangerous boat outing.  Darwin.

I completely agree with Movieman:

Anyone in the market for a sextant to use, at sea, for navigation, will very well know the real deal from this decorative stuff coming from Asia, mostly India.  

Ditto for the replica compasses and other stuff coming from Asia.  No one who actually is outfitting a boat would buy any of it.  

The market is just for decorators and others who want to create "nautical theme" by putting the stuff on desks and bookshelves, and people doing steampunk decor.

Any one buying a sextant off of eBay and not having the calibration tested would end up finding themselves in Greenland when they thought they were in Australia....

Of course most are decoration. worse is the use of this stuff has to be a fully trained person to get any accuracy out of one to begin with.

Oh and reporting such is a waist of time: but dont let that stop you from reporting them.

The question was, "How do I communicate with eBay?" Apparently you-all have never tried it. Let's try it one more time. Does anyone know how to communicate with eBay? Beyond sending them a letter, I figure there must be a phone number; I just cannot find it.

If dangerous facsimile sextants is really what you want to talk to them about, you're really wasting your time trying to communicate with them at all.

You do so by reporting each listing you find. Button on each listing to do so.

They do not want to hear from you me or anyone else. 

Unless there are laws about this item; you will get no were.
