I am currently serving a 7 day restriction from all selling and buying. GUILTY! I did do something that warranted the restriction. The notification of restriction email from ebay did include..... " Your fixed price listings are hidden from search results for 7 days, and fees won’t be refunded." .....However, one of my items in the fixed price listings sold during this period and was paid for. How is this so?

Possibly someone had it on their watch list?.....
That was what I thought. Just having items hidden doesn't necessarily stop buyers buying. Although it is a different matter, I had my listings hidden when I put my store on vacation for a few days but someone was able to buy in spite of that because my item had been on the buyer's watch list.

"Restriction" and "Suspension" are two different things.
When you are restricted you can't create any new listings, your current listings remain visible and anyone can buy them.
When you are suspended your can't list anything and your current listings are ended.
When you are suspended "indefinitely" your listings are ended, your account goes to Not A Registered User status and it's very rare to make a comeback (but still possible).

I believe you just answered your own question. You cannot LIST items while on restriction.
But ebay is hiding all of their fixed price listings and showing only the auctions so the setting must be something like when you hide your items on vacation. It is odd though how someone purchased a hidden fixed price item. It was my understanding that hidden items being able to be purchased from a watch list was fixed quite a while ago.

There many are ways to buy an eBay item without using eBay search - Google, watch lists, and bookmarks to name a few.

Are you sure? There is 1 Fixed Price listing showing and it was listed 14 days ago.

The simple way to handle something like this would be to hide the items from search because if you took them down you'd only have to put them back up again once the restriction is over. Easier to just mask them.
