I will be having a hip replacement in the near future and will be in an orthopedic rehab facility for about a month.
Would love to be able to continue to sell on Ebay during this time. Most of what I sell needs to be scanned. I currently have a desk top pc and a large flat-bed scanner which I think would be too cumbersome in that environment.
I was thinking about buying a tablet and a hand-held scanner; however I am not at all technical so I was hoping for input from the Ebay selling community.
Thanks!!!

I see physical items that need to be sent out.
Short of taking your inventory with you how would you accomplish that? What about returns.
Also, I doubt a rehab facility is going to let you conduct your business there?
Only thing I can suggest is there someone else you can entrust your business to while your are rehabing? And that would mean a lot of trust.

If it were me, I would end my listings. You need to be recovering during that time, not trying to deal with Ebay.
Good luck and speedy healing with your hip replacement. My uncle Chuck had one back in the 80s when he was around 65 or so. Changed his life, he always wished he had done it sooner. Made a new man out of him!

My husband who currently wraps and takes to post office would continue to do that. Also, I envision he would bring me a small inventory of items daily to list and take them home once listed. I would need to print the paypal info. and provide to him so he could match up with the correct item, package and mail.
I would not keep any inventory at the facility.

You did not mention all that in your original post that you had a mate who could step in and help you.
So you just answered your own question on how you could do it.

Yes, that is correct on the logistics side; however I am not at all sure how to handle the technical side. A tablet?? A hand-held scanner??? Hoping for input for that side of the issue.

I am of the shut it down camp.
You don't need any stress.
You need to put your health above ebay.
All the best to you.

1. Please take down that perfumed pens listing. Those pen set do not contain the scent brands named and have been the subject of numerous VERO takedowns by CHANEL. Even 'vintage' fakes are still fakes.
2. Unless you have someone to ship out your merchandise for you, trying to run your eBay sales from a rehab facility seems like several problems waiting to happen.
If the new inventory you're thinking of adding is scannable - that's your postcards/small paper items. Most of those are going for 99 cent anyway - seems like an unprofitable proposition. A big investment to accommodate a short term need with a small payoff at the end of the day. That looks like a net loss kind of deal.
I'd give the notion of new stuff a miss, frankly and just ride out the month in rehabilitation.
Good luck to you.

My husband is also on the "shut it down" side; however I am thinking I am going to be very bored and restless and I do enjoy the listing, watching bids, etc. Having said that, I am still very ambivilant.

JMO but your first step would be to check with the facility to see what they allow in.
I would assume you will be sharing a room, so the other person there might not appreciate all the activity. After all, your being there is to rest and recouperate.

A Smart Phone. It would be all you need. You can zoom in on the smaller things, and maybe use the white sheet/blanket on the bed as a backdrop. Take pics, upload and post from the phone.
You can watch your listings from it as well.

^^^^ And if you are on a public wifi... you are now linked to everyone in the place.
And everyone who was ever in the place... not cool.
