How can I avoid a defect when shipping an untracked item?

I have received 2 defects for items that were shipped untracked because actual postage was less than $2.00. How can I avoid a defect in this situation?

It's not a defect and not late shipping. You just simply have a hit to the tracking metrics.

On my main account, I ship thousands of items without tracking. The ONLY thing that it affects is not becoming a TRS.

You need to take into account what a defect really is?  Defects come from requests that are opened via the eBay MBG.  Request are for

  • Item not received
  • Item not as described

Requests can be opened from buyers for INR regardless of you have tracking or not and regardless of the tracking shows delivered or not.  Tracking that shows delivered can have the defect removed but you need to respond with the info inside the request details.

Many seller who ship without tracking have reported that they sell much more and the actual requests opened for INR is very low compared to the extra business they are receiving.

You have to review your defect rate versus your transactions totals to decide if you want to continue shipping in this manner?

Good Luck Selling!

You can’t.

Ship first class with tracking.

Ebay does grade and track sellers on many different aspects, and the bar keeps changing, but currently there are only two things listed on my dashboard under transaction defect rate.   Those are Out of stock and Unresolved by seller cases.

Why do so many claim the shipping metrics are defects, or now as this post claims, the return metrics of INR and SNADs as defects?  This post states people need to know what a defect is and then goes on to list things that are not currently defects.
