How and what do you charge to sell for someone else?

Somebody asked me if I could sell some things for him, I'm not sure if I'm going to bother but was wondering what would I charge him? He said he would "pay me for my time." He's looking for someone already established on ebay because he's heard if you're new your listings won't get seem as much as an established seller, top rated. So f I were to sell on my ID, what about taxes when the 1099 comes in? He has some trinkets that I don't know a lot about that he wants to sell, but I'd rather sell the stuff in his B&M store, set him up online to sell this stuff, maybe I could set up listings for him on a regular basis. I don't know if he'd go for this so I'm just looking for ideas for a price to charge.

Speaking from my personal experience, I lost a good friend of 20 years because of this exact scenario. Things were going well until the fees came due and he was blown away at how much he owed eBay (nearly $1000). I explained to him multiple times that he was responsible for fees, etc. as it was his account I was using, but I think he was blinded by the money that was coming in and didn't budget for the fees (this was before eBay took out the fees automatically). It's been over two years since I've heard from him and I think that he believes I was doing something nefarious (pocketing too much money perhaps which was not at all the case). Be very careful should you decide to venture into this and take into account the good advice other posters have offered.
