By this, I mean, we hear from a seller who makes $500-600+ a week, steadily and, they do not have 3-4 employees plus 25,000 listings or a closet full of iPhones. lol A seller who works completely alone. I have been on eBay since 2001. I have had successful weeks, on occasion. I've had a day where I sold over $2000. Now?? Hard pressed to make $100 a week. There is a local shop where I can pick up 5 tasty chicken fingers & a large coleslaw. My sales this week could not cover the cost of buying this meal. Please do not consider yourself a success if you had 14 sales in 3 weeks & 'earned' $700. 🙂 I'm talking about $2000+ a month; every month. Good luck to us all. PS - It is not the economy causing such a drastic drop in sales. Low income people do not make that many purchases to affect eBay like this. They can shove their PL blackmail. I pay enough of a % out of my sales AND give away free money on a % of my shipping cost where eBay offers ZERO services for that %.

I wish your sales to growth in this year.

I also sell mostly sports and other guy stuff on this account which used to be my husband's account. Historically, the four weeks before Father's Day have always been very good weeks - this year has been deader than the rest of the year - 3 sales in six weeks an all time low. Whether it is inflation and other economic factors, declining interest, or eBay algorithm changes I don't know, but it has affected this account more than my other collectibles or crafts account.
Of course, increasing shipping rates haven't helped online sales.

Sorry babe, but I don’t buy those numbers “working by myself”.

@johnson_junk_company Sorry babe, but I don’t buy those numbers “working by myself”.
That makes no sense. She's sold 1/3 of what you have sold (item wise; $$ makes no difference). Sold 96 items in 3 months is 32 per month; 1 a day. Easy Peezy to pack n ship avg of 1 item per day.
Those 96 items sold for $122,000 in 3 months.

She's also, most likely, not his "babe".

"Babe" - is not the flex he thinks it is.
Also, for up thread - this IS a 'real job.'

It is a great number, but certainly not crazy for one to achieve on her own. I’m part time on eBay, and hit $130k in sales last year.

I have been on Ebay since 2017 and I sell on 2 accounts. 2017 I grossed $25k , 2018 I grossed 57k, 2019 I grossed 19k, 2020 I grossed 78k , 2021 I grossed 125k and for 2022 it looks like I'm probably going to do 80k. I have 2 other small businesses outside of Ebay so I seem to make more money here when I have more time to list more products, research more products, and buy more products to sell. I had alot of down time in 2021 for product research due to covid so that is why I had a great year. I started my other small business this January so I haven't been adding new products so that is why I won't do as well as last year. As log as I can gross 6k a month I am happy with that.

Haha, babe... I promise I do. No one has a hand in what I do for a living. Believe it or not. I don't really care! If you don't believe it, it means I am doing something right which gives me more motivation to not quit and work even harder. I appreciate that!

So, given that a number of people meet and even exceed your definition of "successful" on ebay, what conclusion can we draw? It definitely CAN be done, regardless of the economy or any stumbling blocks ebay seems to provide, so maybe the difference between those who do and those who don't meet your success standards is tied to the sellers themselves?

Hah! Wimmuns are not supposed to be successful - if we are, we're faking it, 'babe' - some people are confused lol. 😅

But, are you doing it while barefoot & preggers babe? What an antiquated piece of work 😑

I misspoke and was actually referring to the OP. Yes, some can make a consistent amount on Ebay but only those in niche categories that have high demand, and those that are willing to make changes to do well here.
