How Will Existing Listings with 1st Class Shipping Listed Be Handled After July 9th?

The question I have is what happens to all of our existing listings that have 1st class shipping? Ebay is automatically changing over parcel select shipping to USPS ground advantage but refuses to do so for 1st class packages. I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with a clueless member of "the management team" who basically told me it is my problem. I had to point out the email that was sent and the link it sent us to and show that they were basically dumping the problem in our laps. Of my 13000+ listings over 11000 ship via 1st class. Do they really think I'm going to start manually changing them all on my own? All I want them to do is to automatically switch them over to what they call "Standard shipping" in the drop down menu, which would then enable me to choose the appropriate shipping method on my end when I do my bulk labels through eBay each morning. All I want is to know that the eBay customer will still be able to purchase my item for the price shown with the shipping price quoted in my listing. I'm willing to do the rest. I am not willing to go in and manually change the shipping method for over 11000 listings myself.

IS EBAY GOING TO KEEP OUR EXISTING LISTINGS WITH 1ST CLASS SHIPPING OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO OUR CUSTOMERS?

Hopefully, one of the shipping gurus will add to your thread.....

as I understand it...for a "grace" period after the 9th, the existing first-class designated items will "print" the proper label (the new class)

during that period, we need to start changing any of our first class option listings to the new Ground Advantage (once it is available)

There are smarter members keeping an eye on this. I only have about 1800 listings offering 1st class rates, so I can do it pretty easily on the bulk editor once it is available.

I am not an expert on this but I think you can bulk edit these items in one smooth transaction. Just highlight each item, click on edit, and click on domestic shipping and proceed to change the shipping method.

Should be easy.

That is what I plan to do.

Re: How Will Existing Listings with 1st Class Shipping Listed Be Handled After July 9th?

Based on the following announcement in seller news it looks like they are putting this burden on the sellers although some parts of the announcement are a bit ambiguous. I looks like when you actually print the label it will show as ground advantage even though the listing had first class but no clear indication on how long that will continue.

While I hate to think about making all the changes, although there may be a way to do it across all listings at once, given eBay's less than stellar reputation with IT changes I shudder to think what may happen if they were to make the changes.

Conflicting semantics... but if you're willing 'to do the rest', that will include manually changing your listings. Sorry...

If Ebay is automatically changing parcel select shipping to USPS Ground advantage why wouldn't they be willing to do the same for 1st class shipping? It would seem that if they can do it for one they can do it just as easily for the other.

Not sure what all you ship first-class but the following caveat my factor into your bulk edit. This is going to be interesting to say the least.

"Only First-Class Package services are moving to Ground Advantage. First Class Mail for letters and envelopes will remain unchanged."

Re: How Will Existing Listings with 1st Class Shipping Listed Be Handled After July 9th?

I think that eBay is making it so much harder for us as sellers (as usual).  I've been here for 20 years and it just gets worse each year.  I have to supplement my income so I really can't make a change but I'm so not happy. I'm leaving mine as is and just hope that there will be a resolution for all of us.

Re: How Will Existing Listings with 1st Class Shipping Listed Be Handled After July 9th?

If I want to list a new item today, for example a photograph, eBay recommends that I choose 1st class as the method to ship it. It literally highlights it in the drop down menu. On July 9th I assume that they will highlight USPS Ground Advantage in their new drop down menu. But I will still be left with all of my past listings with the "wrong" shipping method. Why can't eBay automatically update these listings in the same way that they are willing to do for parcel select. Why are they being inconsistent? And why do they drop an email on us less than 2 weeks ahead of time and not let their customer support staff know enough to answer simple questions?

^^^ This seems to be a lot of sellers' consensus, too. I'm just crossing bridges as I come to them. 🤞

Yes... a bit harder (again) for sellers. I think the worst you'll experience is hidden/deleted listings (?), but who knows?

Re: How Will Existing Listings with 1st Class Shipping Listed Be Handled After July 9th?

To what purpose? Why should we have listings we have paid for be hidden or deleted simply because they won't make the same fix for 1st class as they are already doing for parcel select? Why are you making excuses for them getting away with the same crappy customer service they have given us for the past 20 years? Why can't someone higher up in the food chain give a straight answer to a simple question?

To address a couple of your questions:
1) I am not making excuses. 2) You've posted on a forum with the lowest of the food chain... sellers.

Probably because changing "Parcel Select Ground" to "Ground Advantage" is merely a name change, whereas making changes related to First Class packages would require actual programming.
