If you're like me, you're no doubt seeing more and more dead stall packages that were shipped via Fedex Ground Economy, which is a discounted joint service with USPS. Fedex refers to this service as Fedex Smart Post. This is a service that begins with a Fedex label and tracking number, but ends with USPS doing the delivery. This joint venture has proven effective for both carriers in avoiding lost package claims as each can conveniently blame the other for delays or lost parcels. In fact, Fedex tracking numbers that begin with the number [ 6 ] will take you to a dead-end during mid transit since USPS tracking will not recognize the number.
However, there is a way to track Fedex Ground Economy parcels. Just add the numbers [ 92 ] to the beginning of your Fedex Ground Economy tracking number. This will both show you if it's still in the hands of Fedex, or in the hands of USPS and act as proof when filing a "Missing Mail" claim with USPS. 😊
