A friend and one of my regular buyers is winning an auction that ends this evening. I will be visiting his home on Friday and if he wins the auction I would like to deliver his items in person; I already have a "local pick up" option.
I rarely sell with in person pick up, but delivered one item in early May to another regular buyer since I was planning to be in her area anyway. We arranged to meet so I had her wait to pay until we got together. When we met, she paid and selected the local pickup option. She received a QR code, I received the notification that the buyer had paid with local pickup as the delivery option, and was prompted to scan the QR code that buyer had received. Upon scanning the code, the transaction showed completed with "Picked up May 10".
Years ago, the last time I did a local pick up sale, that was all I needed to do. However, last month I received a defect for not uploading a tracking number for the item that I delivered May 10. How can I do another in person delivery and not receive a second defect for not providing a tracking number?

That's strange that you got a hit to your shipping metrics, since it seems you did everything correctly for the pick-up. I had one a couple months ago and did not see anything show up against me on the dashboard under shipping.
It seems it would take several shipping hits to lose TRS, though, and unless your listings qualify for TRS-plus, the fees shouldn't be affected. I glanced at your listings and didn't see any that would get the little discount.

It may be different in the US but as a "global" seller, I can just mark an item "Shipped" with no tracking and it is accepted.
About 3/4 of my domestic sales and half my overseas sales go without tracking. Since Canada Post and eBay made a deal, the discounted labels are cheaper than using my own stamps and the best price is on a tracked service.
But I am conciencious about manually marking shipments tracked when I did not buy a label.

I don't know that he's going to win, but is currently the only bidder. I'm kinda hoping that a different buyer wins, though, because then I wouldn't have to worry about local pickup whatsoever - and I get a higher return. 🙂
