Just got a negative from yet another lovely ebay scammer
Spoke with ebay of course as they read from their "script" we can not remove negative feedback
That story is getting pretty old. Here's the situation
I made this item for he Luxor Hotel when they opened in early 90's. I never had one single one "break" or "bend" as they buyer says. I would have an eye here or there fall out (bad glue) We sold approximately 2,000 pieces of this item in 4 years. I found a stash of them awhile back and started listing them.
I've sold quite a few - I had one small problem with one of the cords not being exactly the same as the picture and sent the buyer a whole new rig. They were happy.
On sept 13th this guy messages me
Think he meant bent - regardless - I replied that a buyer should never attempt to "fix" anything that arrives broken or bent or whatever. I actually think there is some kind of guideline about the buyer manipulating items. Anyway I told him that and simply asked for a photo of the item. I would have resolved the issue right then and there - either sent him another or refunded his money. We all know you can't fight city hall around here no matter how hard you work or how honest you are. I just asked for a picture. Every danged person on the planet has a danged cellphone now. Simple matter - just show me the damage.
I hear nothing from him.
Today he leaves me negative feedback. There was never a dispute filed - he never replied - zip - zero - nada - nothing.
So with an unblemished feedback record this one will probably screw up my whole xmas selling season. Why does it always happen this time of year? And the stinking thing will sit there for the next 12 months because one can do it and ebay just doesn't care. Seller truly have no value here.

I doubt that one neg will harm your Xmas selling, but your reply to the neg wasn't well thought out and could have been better.

He was unhappy with what you sold him. That doesn't make him an idiot. This is part of life, you cannot please all the people all the time.
You lectured him about how he contacted you and he left you a neg. If you talked TO him the same way you talk ABOUT him I'm not surprised.

dog - with the level of scammers now descending on ebay (see all the complaints) how would you have suggested I speak to someone who is in the process of trying to rip me off? All I asked for was a simple photo of the item - I wanted to know that he actually destroyed the item before refunding his money. I'm not about to allow these crooks the luxury of keeping my items AND getting their funds back. All the while I'm paying for the priviledge of paying for free shipping and adding the $.30 to the paypal offers? There is a limit to anybody's tolerance in this ebay game no matter how hard to try to accept the constant floggings going on here. this isn't my only seller id and they come from all directions. You don't see any "happy" post here anymore. It's kinda like living in las vegas, You used to walk thru the hotels and hear all the dinging and people yelling and happy and "winning" Hard to find that anymore here - it's all gloom and doom in the casinos. Just recently the casinos are loosening up those slots - the consequences of revenue dropping in recent months. I liken all the complaints on these boards to the same scenario - perhaps ebay will actually wake up and address some of the many many problems here that do equate to revenue dropping and sellers leaving.

I checked over 1000 of your past feedbacks and the only neg was from this ONE guy. So you say this guy ruined your Christmas and Ebay is nothing but scammers ? Maybe it is time for a break from Ebay when a single person can do so much damage ? You are correct about one thing; this board is for complainers and people with problems so of course there is not happy posts.

It's a forum for people to get help with problems. It's always been that. Why expect "happy" posts?

Buyer informed you the item arrived broken---ASKED FOR NOTHING. Didnt file a case
You demand a photo-buyer asked for nothing didnt file a case
I agree, if you spoke to them like you have spoken about them, you earned the neg.
A proper reply would have been not to demand a photo but to say "I am so sorry that the item arrived broken, please return it for a full refund", put the ball back in his court to decide whether he wanted to file a case or not. Buyers are not required to send photos and believe it or not some folks still use lousy flip phones.
If they are familiar with the MBG they know they have to return it in the condition in which it was received, and they admit to breaking it while trying to straighten it. Maybe your buyer just wanted a little sympathy that the item had arrived broken and nothing more.
Of COURSE you dont here happy posts on the boards, they are the complaint boards. For every seller whos unhappy, there are just as many if not more that are happy.

cool - my feedback doesn't show how many items I just cow down and refund their money to them - it doesn't show how many times I make other concessions to buyer - you need to see the bigger picture that doesn show up. it also doesn't show the same thing about my other id

I have been here long enough to actually remember when there were happy posts - I know I'm a dinosaur but it truly used to happen
And I remeber when the helpful posts didn't bash the seller over the head and we helpful and polite. I know I'll catch some for that comment but to constantly tell the sellers experienced or not that "Your wrong" you should just accept the floggins and keep moving,.Reminds me of Solient Green

Your attitude speaks very loudly. Ok I get it, your a cranky ebay veteran, but you can still be polite to your buyers, and if youre willing to call them an idiot on a public forum, its a safe bet you treated them like an idiot.

The buyer is lying.
If the buyer didn't want anything, why bother to contact the seller ?
Why hasn't the buyer filed a claim?
The buyer expected the OP to believe the lie and issue a refund. But that backfired when the op asked for a photo.

The point is that Ebay sellers are complaining that there are no good buyers left. People come here to the forum and see sellers calling buyers names. I don't think calling people names makes this world any better. It doesn't matter if you're talking about people who aren't here, other bidders come here.
Sometimes when I read the seller posts here it makes me wonder what they are thinking. I would never speak about my paying customers that way even if the transaction went south. If I got a neg like that I'd be emailing the buyer toot sweet and offering to send another item. Then and only then I would ask if they would amend the feedback. Don't get all righteous and offended, figure out the best way to fix the situation. Don't let bad experiences with other bidders affect this transaction.
For what it's worth, feedback is for future buyers. It gives you a chance to show your good customer service abilities. It's really not for you or yours.

Calling people names seems to be the policially correct thing to do these days. We'll see how well it works out in the end when everyone decides to go this route.

This is simply a business transaction and one where the buyer does not get a chance to touch the item they are buying, examine the item before they pay, and have to assume it will arrive without damage versus caring for the item as they transport it back to there location.
It seems to me that you need to see the bigger picture is it relates to selling online and understand not all transaction go perfectly. IMO you need to learn how to deal with problems in a better manner.
The fact that the buyer did not open a case against the transaction tells me they are not any of the disparaging names you are throwing out.
Business does not exist without issues and you need to learn that lesson somehow, and understand that online selling has inherited problems that increase certain problems, one of which you experienced with this transaction.
Good Luck Selling!
