Holiday oriented items

Hi Community!

I need you advice yet again...

I am starting to accumulate a number of Item Listings, which are clearly seasonal/holiday items.

Is there any way to "archive" those listings, and just trot them out and relist them for the appropriate Season or Holiday, or is it easier to just let those Listings run year-round?

(I originally thought I might accomplish that using "drafts" as storage for off-season or off-holiday items, but after completely losing a number of great listings that way, I discovered there are some serious time constraints, and number-of-items limitations associated with the "drafts" page)

Re: Holiday oriented items

Why not let them run year round?  Buying for holidays is not confined to the particular period of time around the holiday.  Buyers can look at any time for those things; some may collect and thus your listings could be even more popular when the listings for that particular holiday die down.

I know there are collectors of Halloween and Christmas items.  Possibly others collect other holidays as well.

Re: Holiday oriented items

With Selling Manager Pro, you can place items on Inventory. It keeps the pictures, descriptions and all else that was included in the listing. Fee is $15.99 per month, but is free with Premium and Anchor stores subscription.

Re: Holiday oriented items

I've left mine up for the last couple of years. They do sell year round, and both last year and this year, I've sold a number of Christmas items in January. I actually have more holiday items I'll be listing.

Re: Holiday oriented items

I also have "lost" more listings than I want to talk about so am not helpful with that question.

If you have items that someone really needs, like - just for example - a hard to find holiday Grinch Whoville piece, it will sell at any time of the year.

I have not stopped listing my holiday widgets and they are selling regularly.   I find there is less "competition" or listings at this time of the year because most sellers think seasonal items sell only during that particular season and don't list now.

I sold a Christmas needlework kit the other day and messaged the seller about it perhaps arriving late due to a holiday or weather (don't remember exactly - CRS disease) and she replied, "No problem; I have 11.5 months to get this done."

Just want to add, that when other listings die down post holiday, you may also be able to command a higher price than when the market is flooded.  And there are those who don't like to wait until one is almost upon the holiday to buy~they may start looking at any time during the year.

Sherry, thank you for confirming my thoughts on this!  I, too, think holiday things will sell anytime during the year.  I think that is one advantage of Ebay~~buyers don't have to wait until we are right upon a hoiday to look and buy to their heart's content.

Re: Holiday oriented items

Have you seen how bloated the listings for holiday stuff get around Christmas? Plus at Christmas, people have lots of other places to spend money. We buy gifts, we buy big meals, we travel....... that can take a hit on the budget.

I can often better afford decor out of season. Plus, Christmas people are Christmas people and know what they want / need.

That's probably another reason why people can buy holiday things at any time during the year.  Spacing out their money by buying well in advance.  Sometimes you can get great deals that way, sometimes you might pay more because there are less of that item available, but you have the advantage of knowing you got your item possibly without a lot of competition for it.
