I need a higher selling limit. It looks like what i have today is $1500. What is the deal with this and why is there even a limit? I am a grown man and can look after myself, i don`t need someone holding my hands taking babysteps with me as i slowly approach the status of a superseller. Man, this is SO dumb.

How so? eBay automatically sides with the buyers & they get full refunds no matter what.

I have an item i want to list at $2100 but it would seem this is beyond my reach. I`d say that`s pretty dumb.

Higher Selling Limit - NOW !
That kind of sounds like a 2 year old not a grown man... Selling limits are put on new sellers to protect buyers from scammers, to protect sellers from scammers and to protect ebay itself from scammers.

I am a grown man and can look after myself
Do you realize that you sound like a child? Do you realize that there are millions of buyers and sellers on ebay and because of that, ebay can't treat each person as an individual? I doubt that you have any idea YET of all the rules you will encounter as you sell and if you can't ratchet down your feelings of entitlement, you probably aren't going to last very long.......

Limits have nothing to do with interfering with how much a seller can earn. Ebay would like to earn as much as possible just like you. They have over 20 years of data and experience that allows them to know the pitfalls of retaining buyers. They are using that data to protect the platform you use to ensure buyers return. Limits are for new sellers, no hiding your stuff & no stopping your sales. The OP will get his limits increased as he continues to sell things without problems.

That is ONE thing they do to protect the buyer. Ebay has to also consider if the buyer will return after getting scammed, going through the hassle of having to return the item. It is not only about the money but keeping buyers. Are you insinuating a buyer should be happy even though they get refunded but no item they purchased?

With inflation out of control worldwide, the $2100 item you can't list today will be worth $3100 in a couple of months when eBay raises your selling limit after you deliver excellent service. Could be a win for you.

I would have never had my limits increased because I am not a grown MAN.
We all follow the same rules; you are not above the rules.
OP's next post: I have a return on a $2100 item and lost the money and the item!

Just call eBay on the phone and calmly ask to have your selling limits increased. I did that when I first started selling and had way less feedback than you and they increased it for me no problem. Later on they automatically increased it again; well before I even needed it.

The selling limits are not there to protect you, they are there to protect eBay.

The person I was responding to was talking about people getting hurt financially. If they get all of their money back, they do not suffer a loss.

I have a 30 grand limit. Why? I don't know, I've never come close to that and my current listings are at about 5 grand.
But I have been on ebay for 20ish years, selling for that entire time.
Do it right, your limits will get raised.

They are there to protect the Ebay, the seller and the buyer @blingfling123 . New sellers need time to get some experience and learn the rules. Easing into that is a very good way to learn. Some new sellers come here and don't read or learn the selling rules as they feel they can learn as they go. That can be dangerous for both the seller and the buyer. It's a good rule IMHO.

eBay is the one who foots the bill for refunds when reckless sellers close their bank accounts or cancel their credit cards.
The limits are there to protect eBay from the grown men and women who cannot look after themselves. It would be dumb for eBay to believe every grown man or woman who claimed they could look after themselves.

Every day on this board we see grown men and women who "know what they're doing" come here crying because they were scammed - they lost both the item they sold and the money paid for it (if it was even paid for at all).
You have low seller feedback and are looking to sell an expensive item. You will have a target on your back that can be seen from outer space. You may think you know what you're doing, but I guarantee you, you don't know.
Do you know the signs of a scammer?
