High End Auction Style Listing Fees Wow

I looked at last month's statement and noticed ebay charged me $6.28 to end an auction style listing early.  I ended it because someone from Russia was bidding on it and they shouldn't have been able to.

I didn't know they charged fees to end an auction early.  The fee was almost 10 % of the start bid.   Geech.

BEWARE!

Was there a reason you did not just cancel the Russian buyer's bids vs cancelling the auction?

As mentioned, you would have been better off merely cancelling and block that bidder than ending the listing.  Of course, if you have your preferences set correctly, the bidder should not have been able to bid.  Check your preference settings.

Of course, if the bidder has a US shipping address you really can't domuch to stop them from bidding.

Yes. eBay charges a fee, when a listing that has bids, is cancelled.

There is no fee if the seller just cancels that bidder and lets the auction continue.

If you set your Buyer Requirements block bidders in locations you don’t ship to, you will only get bidders with a USA shipping address.
International bidders with a USA shipping address (freight forwarder or perhaps a friends address) will be able to bid. There is no method available to block these bidders. eBay is a global marketplace.

I will cancel bids here on! I relisted it and the same person bid again. I finally blocked the bidder.  The bidder was from the Russian Federation and my settings have always been set so overseas bidders can't bid. They shouldn't have been able to bid.

He may be using a US shipping address which is perfectly legal and permissible under eBay rules.

If they use a freight forwarder in the USA, your international block won’t work.

You cancelled the listing after it ended? I hope I’m reading that wrong. Sellers get a defect for cancelling a completed listing.
That’s an extra sting on top of the monetary loss.

So if they use a freight forwarder, am I only responsible for it shipping to a US address?

This bidder asked if I ship outside the US in regards to a totally different item, that is what alerted me.
