The buyer originally opened a case saying the item arrived when the item was two days late. The buyer messaged saying they couldn't pay for days so the item didn't get shipped out until the end of the week. I shipped it priority flat rate and it should have been there Monday, but there was a delay caused by it bouncing between two cities.
I told him I couldn't control the USPS delaying the item. The tracking clearly said it was delayed and still in its way, it gave no indication the item was lost. I also said had he just sent me a message I would have contacted USPS. Then he got upset about that and said I was being rude and after a few messages threatened to give me a negative feedback. Minutes after getting the item today he responded to the claim and escalated it saying it was damaged because it was shipped in a padded priority envelope and I blocked him so he couldn't send pictures. I haven't blocked him, but I checked and I'm on his blocked buyers list.
He kept bragging about he's been on eBay for 2 decades and this is how he supports his two daughters, but also claims he never meant to open the case and was only trying to message me. It seems he is going out of his way to scam me out of the item and keep his $50. Is there anything I can do?

Trying reaching out to e-Bay CS on social media. Send them a private message and see what options/solutions they might recommend as your post has several issues outside the return claim. I would report your Buyer first from the transaction view (drop down arrow)
https://facebook.com/eBayForBusiness
You will need to accept the return if you want your item back as your Buyer/Seller is claiming a SNAD.
Make sure you respond to the claim timely. Your claim window is usually short.
Good luck!

I don't even know if it is a SNAD case. It is on the same initial page as the "item hasn't arrived case " and it says "Case reason: Other." I don't even have an option for a return. It won't let me reply to anything and it says customer service will get back to us in two days. I never even got a chance to respond to the supposed damaged item. So, now I don't even know if I will get a chance to accept a return. I just hope when the eBay customer service person looks through the conversation about the Item being late they see the threats of negative feedback and personal insults and see through this guy.
