Hello! I have been at this selling thing (sports cards) for a little while, and am still baffled about whether my listings are good, what causes my listings to get viewed/watched, what seems to bump up the listing on searches and so forth. It seems like there are MANY super-savvy sellers here and I was hoping to get some advice.
Some specific questions related to getting to the top of searches:
1. How important does it seem to be to have many pictures of the item (usually more than 2 seems like overkill, but sure, hey, I can take 8 pictures)?
2. How important does it seem to fill in all of the little details/questions that get asked (I usually fill in a bunch but there are many that I can't imagine will make a difference in a search)
3. How useful is doing the "promoted" thing, and at the rate they recommend?
4. What other factors seem important--posting a lot of new items? Being a top seller? Selling a lot of things? Putting things on sale?
Overall questions:
1. Any tips about when to post (days/times)? Using sales/markdowns? Things to put in the title?
2. Other tips that seem to draw in customers?
Thank you so much for any hints/tips! Feel free to also look at our listings if you feel like it. We also just opened a starter store yesterday for a month to see if using the markdown/sale thing helps---we haven't decked it all out yet, though.
Any advice SUPER appreciated and all the best!

@jh691626 I understand your concern but I doubt many Sellers who sell the same thing successfully will give a competitor info on how to improve their sales.
What I would suggest is experimenting with the points you made in your post ... try a group of say 20 listings and add more pics, fill in as many details as you can, etc. Then see what happens.
As for Promoted Listings, keep in mind the Ad rate % you select comes off your sale price so its going to affect your bottom line.
