I offer 30 day free returns.  I sold a necklace 9/22, shipped 9/22 and it was delivered 9/25.  On 10/8 buyer files return for'changed my mind'.  Okay. I accept returns. paid the label.  She doesn't ship until today, 10/28. Over 30 days from receiving it.

Doesn't seem right.  I'm sure she has worn it, etc. But, still. I think I shouldn't have to accept this type of return after 30 days.  I'm sure Ebay gave them more time. But, this is so wrong.

Does eBay still give buyers three weeks to return an item after a return claim is filed?  I know they did this during Covid but don't know if they ever changed it.

That means if a buyer waits until the last minute to file a return and eBay gives them an additional three weeks to return the item, that means the transaction is tied up for almost two months.  It's been a while since I've had a return but this almost-two-months is what happened to me on the last one I had.

When I have a return, I see a date that the buyer is required to ship by.  I'm guessing your case is still open and should show that too.

Really? I'm not that type of buyer. If the seller is good enough to pay the postage to and from on an item 'I changed my mind' on, I do my part responsibly. It's called being an adult.

Persons of certain generations will totally agree with you (I do, BTW).

More recent generations? Not so much.

Let us know if they actually ship the item back.

They have up to 30 days to file a return, then what 3 weeks to ship it back.   I had one recently that opened a return on the last day, waited till the last day to ship, then when it was apparent they didn't actually ship (no tracking updates) eBay tried to claim it should have arrived based on the time frame and wanted to force me to refund the buyer.  (this is/was a flaw in the system)

I actually had to contact eBay and have them review the case manually for the system to see the tracking was never updated indicating they hadn't actually shipped the item out.

Fortunately it ended up resolved in my favor.  But it was weird.

If you got the same necklace back consider yourself very lucky and refund the buyer.

They said it was shipped back to them yesterday, the 28th.
