Help! Question about cancelling a customers order.

If customer ordered 3 items, do I get hit with one cancel\defect? Or do I get hit with 3 order defects?

It depends on the reason for cancelation. Was it for out of stock/item is damaged?

Re: Help! Question about cancelling a customers order.

It would be my fault. without going through all the details. I have two orders and will have to cancel one. The order with 3 items would be more beneficial for me to cancel bc there was an error in the listing and the price was lower. However, If I will get hit with 3 defects bc of 3 items. I will cancel the one with one item and just take the hit.

Hope this makes sense.??

Even if you choose to cancel the order with 3 items, that would be only one defect.

Cancellations are by transaction.  So if they purchased 3 different items then that is three different transaction.  But if they purchase 3 each from one listing, then that would be just one transaction.

Now with that said, canceling because you incorrectly priced something needs for you to exercise extra caution.  There are a few things to consider before you do something like this.

First, this is really going to upset your buyer and may very well result in negative FB for you.

Second, if they paid via PP, you will not get any of your PP fees refunded, so you are out that expense.

Third, is the price difference worth this.  Potential negative FB and the loss of the PP fees?

Most of us have made pricing mistakes from time to time.  We are human and mistakes happen.  The Ebay system along with buyers are always so forgiving of this type of mistake.

I've made this mistake a few times over the years.  All of which I honored my pricing to the buyer even though it hurt except for once.  And lucky for me that one buyer was very understanding and actually I think she purchased it knowing it was a mistake and was just trying to help me.  That doesn't happen very often and I've always been grateful to that nice buyer.
