Did you mean:

Help Ebay. We need your help!

Last year when you eased up on the behind the scenes algorithms that effect sellers listings and gave us 50K free listings across the board you had to have noticed a surge of sales activity.  It was obvious to sellers like me that whatever you were doing to "help" the little guys was working.  2021 is not off to a great start.  Sales and traffic is all but slowly dying.

Please do something.  We need your support.

I have a lot of new things to list but the motivation to do so is dwindling because the appearance of a "reward" for doing so is fading.

The "pandemic" isn't over.  We need your help!

eBay decision makers will probably never see your post on this board

Only buyers and sellers are on community board sharing experiences and buyer and seller information

But I wish you success in your reaching the right eBay office heads/ staffers

eBay is too busy revising listing pages and increasing item specifics to worry about such things as sales, traffic, and especially the little guys.   Just wait until they officially put out their annual spring seller update garbage.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by this?

eBay can't make a buyer click the "buy" button, and if eBay were to somehow push buyers toward one seller, that also means they are pushing buyers away from other sellers.

Are you sure it wasn't simply that people were bored and stuck at home with nothing to do, and that the increase in sales had nothing to do with "behind the scenes algorithms"?

According to CNBC, e-commerce grew 30% as covid took hold:

Perhaps the real key is to list smarter........the more expensive items that you have may increase your "rewards" more than $10 items.........

Hello all. I hope everyone is staying safe and well these days.

When it comes to traffic, something does seem to be off. I do not usually have a bunch of listings. Normally I keep it between 55-60 items, and historically I’ve averaged 2-3 sales per day. Not a lot, but it’s been a pretty consistent average. It has now been a full week without a sale.

I pay attention to the traffic metrics and usually review the numbers 3-4 times per week. In the last week it’s all but fallen off the radar. According to the metrics there has been about a 60% decline in overall impressions. Of the impressions that do occur, approximately 75% of them are what eBay calls “non-search impressions.” I’m lucky to get 20 page views a day. One day that number was at 86%.

Now, I’m not saying it’s eBay….truth is I don’t know why the decline happened. Maybe we're just in a down pattern right now. Who knows. What I do know is based on the numbers, traffic has declined significantly, and if ~75% of the impressions are not related to what the customer searched for, then the chances of selling anything are minimal at best.
