We're shipping a sale today anyway -- actually I myself don't have one at this moment but the spouse just sold something on Poshmark -- because the package will fit in the lobby drop box and the Self Serve Kiosk can be used to scan a provisional Acceptance on it. If your post office is like ours, someone will be emptying the drop box on Monday regardless of the holiday, and the mail keeps moving behind the scenes 24/7. I mailed a package last Labor Day weekend that was at the origin sort facility by Monday night.

I do hope that eBay counts Monday as a holiday as they should, but I'm going to get a jump on the shipping anyway.

This is my favorite small-town-PO photo, from Union Pier, MI:

(It used to be the United States Post Office until the "Office" part fell off the front of the building.) That's me holding my official hand-stamped mailing receipt, complete with yesterday's date on it by mistake.

Fortunately our own local PO is a little more comprehensive. 😊

You know I KNOW it's MLK day and I KNOW it's a federal holiday ... but for some strange reason I was still expecting mail pick up. Losing my mind.  LOL    Thanks for the reminder!

Heads up

Love those itty bitty post offices!

This is the post office I used to use back in the day when I stayed on the Outer Banks (before it got touristy).  It was open about three days a week for two hours lol.

Was it a 10 mile walk in the snow, up hill, both ways?    😉

Not to mention having to be chipped off the commode after he was done.  (It looks a lot colder than the metal porta-potty I used today when I was out running, and that was cold enough  😶 )

Heads up

True story  as told  by my Mom and she had pictures of this  My  grandfather moved to the US in the early 1900's from Mora, Sweden and homesteaded in the Bowman area  of North Dakota (SW corner of ND) - wide open prairie with some  homes were sod huts etc.( trees & lumber was scarce)  During the winters snow drifts would pile up against the house and the cattle barn up to the top of the roof.   They had to tunnel thru the snow drifts to get to the out house and barn.  The  good thing was the temperature in the tunnel was only 32 degrees F.   Above the snow negative temps.

Visited  that homestead 3 time in my life once slept & stayed there in the late 40's.  In  our 1976 visited a sod hut with electric power line connection & calendars and a Sears Roebuck & Company catalog from 1974 inside the hut and a couple rattle snakes.

Guess we all have it pretty good now eh?
