Heads Up: MESSAGES "not working" - bad URL

Top right of the page - My eBay > Messages is sending sellers to the defunct:

https://mesg.ebay.com/mesgweb/ViewMessages/0

eBay needs to update the link to the new page:

https://www.ebay.com/cnt/ViewMessage

Messages are working when you use the second link.

eBay needs to update the old link and put in a page redirect until all old links are updated.

I suggest reporting the problem to eBay using this easy option:

The more people reporting, the quicker they'll fix it.

1. Seller Hub Overview > Tasks panel > "read unread messages from eBay members"

I was about to post that the Messages button on the top right of Seller Hub goes to the right page because it worked about 10 min ago, but now it's going to the old page.

Also weird, my Hub Overview page was suddenly zoomed way in. I had to zoom out a lot. I made no changes except refreshing the page.

I suspect eBay pushed through an update and some stuff went wonky in the process.

Interesting.....I used the link in the Seller Hub yesterday (or maybe Saturday) and the old link (presumably) was forwarding to the new message system.

Today as you say it's no longer working.

Every time I use Messages I click on this

and tell them to change "Send message" to "Compose Message" or maybe better "Type Message Here".

I'll add the bad link issue to my comments.

I've submitted the same FB to eBay a few times. I suspect they will eventually make an adjustment due to the amount of confusion over it.

In case people find this thread because they can't figure out how to send a message once they make it to the messages page, I'll throw out my usual advice for that situation:

Messages are no longer formatted like emails; they are formatted like messages. It operates the same way a chat window does. Ex: when you contact customer service here on eBay using the chat option, and when you send a text message on your phone, you type in the space at the bottom, not higher up where messages are displayed.

At the bottom of the message window, the box that says 'send message' is where you click to start typing. I'm hoping eBay will update that 'send message' text to something more instructive in the near future, like 'compose message', and eliminate some of the confusion stemming from the crowd that is not familiar with text message / chat format.

The photo landscape icon on the left is for attaching photos. The paper airplane icon on the right is for sending the message.

Regardless of how I try to get to "Messages", it's still giving a timeout.  I want to view them to make sure nobody needs anything.  I'm a high volume seller, so I need to make sure people are taken care of. 

Thanks for the input, and I was just checking to see if I was the only one with the issue or not.  Hopefully they get it fixed soon.

Did you use the link I posted above @silverbird_graphics ? Bookmark it for now so you can access messages easily while eBay works on fixing the problem.

eBay put a page redirect in effect which is why people stopped reporting the problem. Hopefully this is resolved for everybody.
