Having Missing Packages Lately?? TRY This

I had a customer that wanted FULL REFUND (as she put it) for a package. It would have set me back some,.We mailed back and forth a few times then I mailed her this -

Your previous message

My post man said when they scan a package for delivery it gives a GPS point to where the package was dropped off. So if they made a mistake and delivered it somewhere else they know where it was dropped at. He told me to tell you to print up your eBay sheet with the tracking number on it and bring it into your post office.                                                                   She sent this two minutes later-

I actually found it it was dropped off at my neighbors house thank you !

Re: Having Missing Packages Lately?? TRY This

I had a customer this past week who said that they never received their package.   The GEO Location of the delivery was right on their front porch (a USPS worker let me see the GEO Location), and the house was secluded from the road in a rural area ... that is, not the typical porch pirate house.

I spent a good 2 hours trying to give them guidance on finding the package.  They opened an INR claim anyway ... oh well ...

But the INR is useless if the tracking shows delivered. What was your outcome?

99 out of 100 times, or more specifically, the vast majority of times the package is miraculously received.

Yeah, I know.  And, yes, the tracking shows delivered.  He hasn't escalated the claim yet.

I only get a couple of INRs a year ...

Re: Having Missing Packages Lately?? TRY This

I was just seasrching for a good response and how to resolve yesterday. As I got a message for a missing package that showed delivered. A first for me. Before I responded back I got a second message that the package was found having been knock off the porch and hiiden from view. Things happen. I sold to a good honest buyer. I was looking at the USPS site reading about the GPS but wasn't sure if it was done all the time everywhere.

Yes, those handheld scanning devices have built in GPS.

We had a substitute mail carrier that would scan all pkgs as delivered from his truck b4 actually delivering them. He may have been down the block or further away when the scan took place.

So not only was the scan at a different location than the delivery address, if he wanted to stop his deliveries for the day, he would just bring the truck back with the overflow of pkgs to be on the next day's deliveries.

It made me so paranoid a few times because my pkgs showed delivered, yet I had not rec'd them, so I reported him. Now all my pkgs get scanned at my doorstep.

It is not everywhere (yet), but I think the USPS is rolling out out everywhere.  If you go to your local post office, they will be able to tell if there is a GEO Location tag associated with your particular delivery.

really don't think it needs to come to that... if shows delived..then it fall on the buyer...AND they could  and should go to their local P.O. and ask.. period.

I will not try that, be truthful in your dealings. If item shows delivered, I would advise the customer that it shows delivered and I can't do anything as a seller since it's the carrier word against mine, if they say delivered, how can I dispute that when I was not there? Other than that, I will take care of them.
