Has anyone experimented with Promoted Listings?

Has anyone tried to list something with promoted listings and just raise the price of the item by the amount of the promoted listing fee?

$100 item listed without promoted listing.

vs

$105 item listed with promoted listing ($5 charge).

Which listing would sell more?

gobadchicken,

WHERE DOES EBAY DESERVE TO COLLECT A COMMISSION FROM CONTENT THAT SELLERS CREATE?

ebay has been collecting a commission from content you create since they collected the very first FVF, which is a commission on content you create.

Re: Has anyone experimented with Promoted Listings?

You are buying space on an advertising platform.

There is a flat rate listing fee, often forgiven as "free listing" often discounted for Store subscribers.

There is a percentage fee based on the selling price including the shipping fee you charge.

And there are optional fees, some non-refundable like Reserve on Auctions and some only kicking in when the item sells, like Promoted Listings.

What you get for those optional fees is spelled out, and as noted, they are optional.

But basically, eBay is your landlord.
