Earlier this month I had 2 items sell and when I was doing the paper work the price that the items were bought at was not the price that I had on the item. When I contacted eBay customer service I was told that it is an eBay policy called Smart Best Offer and that due to this policy eBay can send out discounts on items that have been on your site longer than a month without letting you know. My co-worker and I have looked through the policies and can not find where it states that eBay can give out discounts on items. Has anyone else had this kind of issue with eBay? The only thing I was able to find is that I had 40+ items that had offers sending automatically, I have turned that off.

I always get paid after fees and shipping is deducted. It always calculates correctly.
You sold 4 items this month with Best Offer accepted. My guess is that your Best Offers are set up to auto-accept.

Go to MARKETING, BUYER GROUPS (click on NEW AUTOMATED OFFERS). Somehow this must have been "turned on". Perhaps, you picked up these settings by using "sell similar" and other people had them turned on. Or if you are using APP (check that is not turned on).

That was the only thing My co worker and I could think of. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for that. I have turned off the auto offer on all my items. I am hoping that by turning the auto offer off it will "fix" this problem.

I got away from the Auto Offer when I realized it was likely leaving money on the table (as it were) due to the age of the item. I might be sending out auto offers immediately when somebody first looks at an item that has just been up a few days, because I'd sent out one offer and then turned on the automatic button for that listing. I was sending out discounts on items that didn't yet need to be discounted.
.
I will say though that it works GREAT for items that you are ready to just liquidate and move on. Assuming you ever get more traffic to it, throw them a great discount to move the item off that dusty shelf and turn it back into cash I can use to buy something hopefully with a better turn!
