I have.

They were Jack Daniels butane lighters.

Of course I didn't open up a factory here in Hawaii producing counterfeit Jack Daniels lighters.

I had no idea where the person I got them from got them.

So i just stopped selling them on ebay.

What's your story?

For whatever reason, eBay has spoken. It'd be risky to list it here again. We sellers have heard of such and empathize...

Re: Has anyone else had a problem with ebay removing an item saying its a counterfeit?

If a seller has not had an item removed for a rather bogus counterfeit claim then they have not been selling much on Ebay.  It is something we all experience.  Resistance is futile.  And never relist the item, just move on and forget about it.

It's not the first time this came up...

Re: Has anyone else had a problem with ebay removing an item saying its a counterfeit?

It is quite random when something gets pulled or not.

One time i sold a bunch of sealed big box pc games where some facebook group of neckbeard amateur pc game collectors had gotten together and claimed that what i sold were "re-sealed" games with a myriad of angry  messages where they all told me that they had reported me.. nothing happened, sold the games to happy customers afterwards.

In another instance i got messaged by a guy that claimed that i sold a counterfeit coin because he had seen pictures of a fake that with his poor eyesight looked like mine (which it clearly didn't.. it was easy to tell them apart) and then a short while later the coin got delisted because this expert that didn't know the difference between a hole in the ground and his own rear end reported it. He even later on in our conversation realised his mistake and apologies, but since he had already reported it etc it got delisted.

"I know it is not"

I doubt you know: I think you believe.

which is such that ebays opinion and or their VERO persons opinion count and not yours.

DO not relist it,

Has anyone else had a problem with ebay removing an item saying its a counterfeit?

Typing the word "counterfeit" into the search box will reveal plenty of posts where sellers had a problem with eBay removing counterfeit items.

If you read through those posts, you'll find that in some of those cases it was pretty clear that the items were legitimate and eBay was wrong. In some other cases it was pretty clear the items were counterfeit and the seller was wrong. And in still more cases, it was not possible to tell whether eBay or the seller was right.

There have been a "rash" of these types of threads lately.  E-Bay is evidently working to crack down on the bogus bumpkus stuff(s) on the site.

Not saying yours was - what were you selling, by the way?  Might just be a situation where you can sell it USED but not NEW.

Re: Has anyone else had a problem with ebay removing an item saying its a counterfeit?

They removed 3 of my Coins today. A little different story though, I suspect. I had a guy in a FB Group, an Admin, that was being a peck--weed about my 1982 Copper Small Date I had posted. So I told him that I was going to list my Coin on my eBay for 10 bucks and that somebody would buy it for 8. Be it today or a year from now, and when they did I'd remember to send him the info so he could dine on some crow. So that was late last night and today that 82 Small Date and 2 of my other Coins were removed as Counterfeits. I think HE, mr Vinnie Capucowhatever did this to me and I would like to block him from being able to see my listings again. I didn't give him or anybody my eBay name so he had to have used my actual name to find me. How does that work? How can I enter his name and have his account to come up?

Yeah, but like most everyone else can sell the same item but me. You report others and nothing happens.

You can only search by their Ebay ID, not their real name.

Have a great day.

Well, maybe it wasn't that guy then and was a random thing. Awfully coincidental though.

Could simply have searched  by the item in the search bar.

Re: Has anyone else had a problem with ebay removing an item saying its a counterfeit?

Yes, I thought about that after. I am pretty sure it was him. Makes me not want to even list anything more for fear that he'll continue. Seems like a spiteful little man to be sure. While ebay didn't 'penalize' me this time they mentioned 'action' if it happened again. I gotta wonder what that would be. Thanks.
