Several things that I listed in the last couple weeks have been bid on and won by bidders that have zero feedback and they didn't pay me. I sent them 2 emails requesting payment, but never heard back from them. I didn't open non-pay cases because I didn't want to wait, I just canceled the transaction so that I could relist the items right away. They don't seem to think it's a big deal and I am frustrated that I can't leave negative feedback, after listing the item, waiting til the auction is over and then waiting for a payment that never comes and then relisting and waiting again. We really count on the extra money since the Covid-19 quarantine. Has anyone else been having this problem? If nothing else, thanks for letting me vent! Stay safe and healthy,

@perrance78 wrote:Be thankful they didnt pay you. You be losing money if they paid you and you shipped it to them and they requested for a return. I'm sure the buyer could leave you a negative feedback if you just cancelled the order. I usually open a case if someone doesnt pay. Only thing is I dont wait to relist the item. I put it up the minute I open the case. No one says you gotta wait a week to relist an item.

The policy does not say that you are free to relist at your leisure. Until the Unpaid Item Dispute is closed, the original buyer can remit. And in that case, you must then send the item to the first buyer. This can easily get out of hand, if you are not closing the cases before you relist the items. If the first buyer decides to pay, and the second buyer purchases the item too, then you must cancel the second transaction. And doing that gets you an automatic defect for a seller-initiated cancellation without buyer request. It is a big problem that is entirely avoidable. Close the first case, then relist. It is unfortunate we as sellers must wait the 4 days, but in the long run it is to your benefit to do so.

I did. Ebay automatically opened an unpaid case. The customer sent me a message to please cancel the purchase and refund her!!!! Ridiculus

If at all possible, you should use fixed price listings with immediate payment required. Canceling transactions is not a good idea.

What did you do? Let the UPI play out or cancel? Just curious

I just had one of those tonight!! The "buyer" didn't research the item before he bid and when he found out it wasn't what he thought it was he wanted his money back.
I sent him an email that said he should research and know what he is bidding on, and that when he bids on something it enters him into a contract with the seller that he is obligated to pay for the item and that not paying leads to negative feedback and feedback is your reputation on eBay. And how a lot of people sell things on eBay to supplement their income, even more so now with Covid-19.
And to my surprise he replied, "Thank you. I am new to eBay and I will take your advice for next time and I am sorry I wasted your time." Wow. I felt about 2" tall.

Does eBay keep track and hold it against you when you cancel a transaction?
And I usually get the items I sell in large lots (mostly jewelry) or I have had for a long time (I was a thrift store employee) and I am absolutely terrible at coming up with fixed prices, so 99% of the time I do the auction thing.

It depends on how you cancel - if the buyer requests it, or there's a real problem with the address, it's not a cancellation that weighs against you. If you cancel and use an 'out of stock' (i.e., don't have item) then it's a serious defect.
I know it's a hassle, but it's better just to file a UPI if your buyer just doesn't respond - make it automatic, eBay sends a reminder and if no payment, then they close the case with the UPI.
Or, just list fixed price, immediate payment.
