Has anyone actually seen an Adyen-payment listing yet?

Subject line speaks for itself. Just curious... I'm mainly wondering how obvious it will be to the casual viewer (especially in either Mobile or App presentations) that they won't be able to buy the item using PayPal, as well as how the Adyen payment requirement is being presented.

It was claimed that eBay employees had been putting up test listings already. Are those listings visible on-line, or were the employees just selling to each other in a sandbox environment?

That is not good news for me as I send a lot of gifts, at any time of the year, through Ebay purchases.

Not everything comes to the billing address.

There has to be a way to change the shipping address. Where I lived before I did not have mail delivery to my house so my CC billing went to a PO Box. Whenever I bought anything that was shipped FedEx or UPS then I would have to change to my physical address (which didn't exist as far as USPS was concerned but OK for FedEx and UPS).

So I wonder if the buyers' CC bills will just show they purchased from eBay? Final nail in going from I bought it on eBay to I bought it from eBay. If a buyer buys a lots of stuff on eBay will they even be able to sort it out if all the CC says is eBay this and eBay that?

How does a CC purchase look on the CC statement when you buy from Etsy? I don't even have an account there so I can't go buy something to see what shows up.  Does it show you bought it from the merchant or from Etsy?

OK, I went and found an eBay employee's listings to run the checkout test. This is what happened:

TEST 1:

Entered CC info.

Clicked "change" by the Ship To address.

CC info was wiped out, could not change address.

TEST 2:

Entered CC info.

Saw the blue DONE button underneath payment info so I clicked on it.

Clicked "change" by the Ship To address.

It showed me all stored addresses to choose from plus displayed a link to "add a new address".

Address change successful.

TEST 3:

Then I went back and clicked Change by payment info so I could try changing my billing address. Since I unchecked "remember this card for future orders" it wiped my CC number and security code but left the expiration date.

So once again I entered CC info.

Then I changed the billing address and clicked DONE.

The ship-to address did not automatically change, it stayed as my primary address.

Address change successful.

All in all, this is my takeaway: it's a little clunky. On other retailers I can click to the next section and change a ship to address and that action automatically considers payment info "done", or it may offer a red warning saying I need to complete that section before moving on. eBay's site isn't doing that so it wasn't that smooth of a process.

I also think that it shouldn't be wiping my CC# and security code within the same transaction. I checked the box not to save my info for FUTURE transactions, but I want it to be retained for the current transaction while I sort out address and any other changes.

FWIW, I just received an email from Ebay offering $10 off a $50 purchase paid directly by credit or debit.

Did they give you a link to those listings? How do they expect you to find them?

I think the idea was mainly to condition you into whipping out the credit card for your purchase each time, instead of just automatically clicking on your PayPal account. The exact item being purchased isn't the point of the exercise.

The item had nothing to do with anything other than not wanting to accidentally purchase from an innocent seller, therefore testing with an eBay employee who might care less if I had to cancel an accidental order - which I didn't because checkout was not completed.

The point of my test was to see how the new payment screen works. You don't have to pull out your credit card each time you checkout if you opt for eBay to store your credit card info so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

I know the feeling. I rarely use anything but my Paypal pocket apron. I think of it as mad money, and will not store a lot of money there any more. I won't be giving ADYEN my bank information. Ebay keeps pulling the rug from under sellers like it's good for us or something. Having to continually adapt to new technology is not fun. Things are too "corporate" now. It doesn't have a relaxed atmosphere. I miss Vintage ebay.

No link to listings, but as a_c_green said, I felt it was intended to try to get us used to buying without the benefit of Paypal.

I checked out the thread on the Payments board (as mentioned by @missjen831), and looked at that OP's current listing. As she said, there is no PayPal logo in the Payments section, just the standard credit card logos.

This is what it looks like at the checkout page, when you're paying for the item (I didn't purchase it).  The billing address is pre-filled with my primary shipping address, and it appears that the shipping address has to match the billing address for the credit card, because it won't let me change the shipping address. If I click the change link, it just bounces right back to this page shown.

If that is so, that's going to put a damper on some holiday sales come November and December.

Yikes!! Yes thats definitely not good! Especially as the holiday shopping season approaches. A lot of people have different billing & shipping addresses. A lot of people buy things as gifts & have them sent to the recipient. Yikes yikes yikes. I am cringing just thinking about all the complaints that are sure to roll in.

Of COURSE that's EXACTLY when they'll slam it on everybody- likely right about the end of October.

In 2007, eBay made a bunch of changes at the beginning of the holiday season for the first time. It was such a DISASTER the Pinks flooded the Boards to apologize to users and to promise it would never happen again, as did Meg.

They've done it every year since.

This is why eBay grows in microns every holiday season while the big A grows double digits.

What was that definition of "insanity" again?

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

You don't need a link to the listings. You can pay directly with a CC/debit card on any listing and have been able to for a couple of years now. You don't even need a Paypal account. Just select the CC option instead of Paypal.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

If that's the case, you won't be able to accept payments, so you won't be able to sell on the site.   When Etsy made the same change 2-3 years ago and went to Adyen as their payment processor, providing a bank accounting routing number was required, otherwise there is no way for a seller to receive money from the sale of their items. A lot of sellers stalked off and refused to do it like you are suggesting.   Some went elsewhere, some set up their own websites/e-commerce sites, and a lot of them ended up coming back after they found that those who stayed weren't having any issues/problems at all with the new payment system/set-up.
