Subject line speaks for itself. Just curious... I'm mainly wondering how obvious it will be to the casual viewer (especially in either Mobile or App presentations) that they won't be able to buy the item using PayPal, as well as how the Adyen payment requirement is being presented.
It was claimed that eBay employees had been putting up test listings already. Are those listings visible on-line, or were the employees just selling to each other in a sandbox environment?

Hi, a_c:
IIRC ebay employees were selling to each other in a controlled environment. I culd be wrong about the controlled environment part, though. I don't know what level of employee participation they had, or how long it may have been in effect. It didn't seem like that went on for long because they had said invitations would go out in Sept, and I believe they went out in July. I remember I was surprised at that as were others.
I have not seen any listings that mention Adyen.

Check the Payments Board for a recent thread that might be Adyen related.

I suspect that in ebay's wisdom, a buyer will not have an obvious way to differentiate, and will be caught off guard and taken by surprise AFTER they commit to making a purchase. Sellers will face increased cancellations, and buyers will blame sellers for it rather than ebay. Some will get negative feedback because a buyer was forced to enter CC information, rather than being able to pay with paypal as they always have.
As with all changes ebay makes lately, this WILL have a negative impact on sellers.

The listings look like any other listing except theres no paypal logo, just the 4 credit card logos, looked the same as it would if the seller used their own merchant processor & no paypal. I saw Bob Kupens (sp?) listings a few weeks ago. And yes there is a thread on the payments board posted yesterday & the OP is apparently opted into Adyen.

I just googled to the Adyen site. There is a section for ebay. All it says is nothing. BUT to click on the Seller Center and the Community. lolol. Like anyone here really knows exactly what is going on.

Actually there hasn't been much info released, period.

I checked out the thread on the Payments board (as mentioned by @readabouthorses and @missjen831), and looked at that OP's current listing. As she said, there is no PayPal logo in the Payments section, just the standard credit card logos. I don't see "Adyen" mentioned anywhere.
This is what it looks like at the checkout page, when you're paying for the item (I didn't purchase it). The billing address is pre-filled with my primary shipping address, and it appears that the shipping address has to match the billing address for the credit card, because it won't let me change the shipping address. If I click the change link, it just bounces right back to this page shown.
If that is so, that's going to put a damper on some holiday sales come November and December.

Yikes!! Yes thats definitely not good! Especially as the holiday shopping season approaches. A lot of people have different billing & shipping addresses. A lot of people buy things as gifts & have them sent to the recipient. Yikes yikes yikes. I am cringing just thinking about all the complaints that are sure to roll in.

Also, there is nothing to click on to stop eBay/payment-processor from storing the CC information, so there is no way that I would fill it out with a CC number.

I think that might be the screen that comes up for the first Adyen checkout. Just like the one that comes up for the Ebay checkout using Payflow does now. They are not going to be asking for your credit card number every time, that would be ridiculous. They will validate it the first time against the billing address and then provide a simplified checkout after that.
I pay with Adyen on Etsy all the time and don't have to keep entering my credit card number.

There's a checkbox to remember the credit card number for people who want to store. If it's not checked they won't be allowed to store it.

I always enter my CC number on Etsy. They don't store it on my account.

I didn't see a checkbox in the screenshot I posted. I don't trust them not to store it if I don't tell them to store it.
I never use eBay's "Pay with a credit or debit card" option. I tried it one time to see how it would go, just like I did with the Adyen listing, and then I backed out like I did this time.
