Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

To start, the reason I feel that eBay's current war on hand sanitizer is wrong is because they are taking away people's ability to get the products that they desperately need.  With most sources dried up, eBay was was the last hope for a lot of people.

And before you all go regurgitating eBay's righteous efforts to thwart price gougers, they could have simply set up a process for people to report price gouging.  THAT would keep the vast majority of sellers in check.

I was selling a lot of scented Hand Sanitizers in the 1 ounce Pocketbac style.  I actually DROPPED my prices when this all happened so that people could get what they needed.  But i do understand if some sellers wanted a small price increase as the laws of supply and demand take effect.

Now I am ok with all my sanitizer listings being removed.  I have many other listings to help compensate, and I have been loyal to the eBay community for more than 20 years.  I am simply trying to suggest that there may have been an alternate course of action that could have been taken.

Lastly, I am sure that when this is all over, eBay will remove the ban on those categories.

Until then, everyone stay healthy.  And like a meme I saw on Facebook...constantly wash your hands as if you just handled chilipeppers and need to put your contacts in.  Lol

eBay is not the sole source of these items. Few, if any, are being deprived by eBay's actions.

I just looked up the five closest WalMarts to me.

All five have multiples sizes and packages of Purell available for same-day store pickup.

And there's no sales tax in New Hampshire, too!

You do know that WM online is frequently wrong about "in stock" and where?

I was just going to say "Have you tried to actually place an order?" WM is notorious for the "Sorry, this item is temporarily unavailable..." spiel when you (try to) place an item in your cart. If the DO have any, good for you! You seem to be in an area where the hoarding and mass accumulation for (gouging) profit have not (yet) affected you. For the first time in 3/4 of a century I almost (not quite) wish I did not live dead centre in a major city.............................

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Now fighting an extreme urge to go online@WM & buy hand sanitizer,etc-lol...for probably no good reason, cause I don't think it's gonna keep us much safer than.....🤔 I live rural&the couple stores I've been@lately are sold out of wipes(those I use anyway-nasty shopping carts, etc)&probably the others too. And "Thank You" to whomever mentioned the grain alcohol, that's gotta be@least 60%,and if nothing else, I can just get really plastered either way(&hopefully feel no pain). Personally I need to stop reading SO much...anybody know why they are saying vinegar for?? Just read that one somewhere today(WHO,maybe)?

Vinegar has been my cleaning product of choice for decades. I have never voluntarily used a chemical "anti-bacterial" product. While vinegar does not kill all bacteria, it is very good for the nasties that tend to come along with food prep, etc., it also doesn't kill most of the beneficial bacteria, as well as having some cleaning properties (soap scum, etc.). Plus, it leaves no odor...............I can live very nicely without Ocean Breeze, Fresh Meadow, Avocado Tangerine, Balmy Summer Nites, thank you............

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

I made my own batch of hand sanitizer as well.  There is a seller trying to sell a bottle of Equate hand sanitizer for $1,000 dollars I reported high price hiking tonight to Ebay.

Me too,on the many fragrances(cept for candles). I've always been a "bleach" fanatic for cleaning. Haven't delved into why they're saying vinegar for COVID-19 purposes, read it somewhere tho. If I wind up on Quarantine(self or other),I guess I'm expecting the healthcare industry to supply whatever,am definately paying enough insurance to cover it. N in NYC(4hours from me)the mayor says they're going to have people quarantined checked daily@home. Who the heck is gonna volunteer for THAT job?🕊

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Except anything that contains hazardous materials such as ummm alcohol is not supposed to be mailed by air. And there are rules/documentation for sending by ground and cross-border. That's supposed to apply to perfumes also. It's all well and good until you get caught doing it and end up with a major fine or time in hoosegow!!

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Here is an idea.... people can just wash their hands like I see on the news constantly. Try selling antibacterial soap, don't think their is a ban on that, or I could be wrong. I am now just catching up on what is going on on ebay about this nonsense. The easiest way is to JUST WASH YOUR HANDS.

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Again, as i just posted, if you can make it to walmart just simply buy antibacterial handsoap. It is like a dollar a bottle, the dollar store even carries it. People just wash your hand!! Sanitizer is not necessary if you just wash your hands. I am sure people have soap and water in their house, job, etc. No one should need more than a tiny bottle of santizer in their bag / purse for occassions you can't wash your hands. This is a huge scare tactic. I been following the news and this is getting out of hand. Banning listings is geting a little crazy. I don't sell this particular item, but for those that do and have been way before this outbreak occurred, listings should not get banned. This is getting crazy.

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Have a question for you. Am thinking of making hand sanitizer for the three people in my life who are in their 80s&90s,JIC they'd like some(not a topic we discuss-too stressful). Other then the two main ingredients, anything else I could/should possibly add in for them? At that age, your skin tends to be incredibly sensitive,so don't want to overdo it. Thanks.🌼

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Soap and water, antibacterial soap by Softsoap. Way better than any sanitizer that dries the **bleep** out of your hands. If you have access to water and soap and live in American, washing your hands before touching your face, mouth or eyes is best way to protect yourself. I have seen this on the news on a regular basis.

Re: Hand Sanitizers - Alternate Solution?

Yah,true, but my one lady brought up the topic this morning(she'd like some). I'm a person who regularly spends lots of time in hospital&have given her(& other people) the ones I'm forever getting from there, but they kill my skin,so definately not made for hers. N I just got her some really nice pump hand soaps for Xmas that she loves. Just looking for ideas.☘️
