HUGE SEARCH GLITCH/BUG in the new store interface

I replicated it on 5 different computers, 3 different households and around 12 different stores.

Here are the steps to replicate the bug.  (Feel free to cut and paste the search criteria)  Actual count may vary by a couple, because I am still trying to list & sell stuff.

1. Go to my ImaPaqRat.com store
2. search "poster" in the search field below the About Us section.  I get 751 results, which is fine. 
3. The search field is now at the top of the page
4. Now Search: Nike Basketball; 0 results, there should be 231
5. Search: Nike jordan; 0 results, there should be 95 [Nike Michael works fine]
6. Search: jordan; 0 results, there should be 100 [Once again, Michael works fine]
7. Search: basketball Nike: 231 results, like it should be. so nike first is an issue.
8. Search: Nike Soccer (0); search Soccer Nike (11) again word order
9. Search: Chicago Bulls (0), should be 108
10. Search: Nike Tennis (0); Should be 52
11. Search: Tennis Nike (52) again word order

I could go on & on, but I think you get the point.  The new store interface has a very flawed search engine.  No wonder my sales have plummeted since the new store interface came out.

As I mentioned above, I have tested this bug on about 12 stores, which deal in Nike Stuff.  They all have the same bug.  The Chicago / Chicago Bulls bug is not Nike related, so who knows how many other words are buggy.

If you have an eBay store.  Poke around with searches to see if you happen to have any buggy words in your item titles.

I still can't believe eBay did this during the busiest time of the year.

To replicate what the OP sees you have to search from WITHIN the Store, the search box in the Store header works but the subsequent searches which must be done in the Standard search box (the search box in the Store header goes away) are defaulting to a specific category (and it's not the right category!).

I go to seller store. Type nike basketball.  Click on nike basketball from the drop down list, and get

I looks like you search Nike Basketball 1st.  You have to search POSTER from the 1st page.

Once again . . . in the search field below the ABOUT US text, you have to search POSTER.  Then in store search result window, you enter Nike Basketball.

Exactly right.  I tried to explain eBay customer service person about the category issue.  They have to go back to ALL categories for each subsequent search, not just the categories from the original search.

FYI: In the original search field (the one below the About Us text) you can also type Hostess, Batman, Superman, Zelda; basically anything that returns a result with a very narrow set of categories.

I look at one of your items.

On the right I click on "visit store".

I see search all  2,451 items.

I type in nike basketball.

I get a drop down window with nike basketball...............................

OK, now I see.........................    "poster" is not a choice, but the posters show up when I click on "nike basketball", and if I then use the enter nike basketball poster in the search at the top I see 226 results.

Apparently my "searching logic" is different.

 

I seldom go searching in a sellers store when looking for something.

When I do a search of all sellers, using nike basketball poster, one of your items is the 1st one in my results.

You keep skipping step 2 from my list of steps.  You go directly to step 4.

You keep searching Nike Basketball as your 1st search.

This new, glitchy Store Interface has been a nightmare.  I have In-Listing links in most of my listing.  If somebody is looking at a basketball item, I give them a link to see all my basketball items.  If they are looking at NYC item, I give them a link to all my NYC items.   Every one of those in-Listing links is broken now.  They just go to my store with all 2,452 items.  The search criteria is lost.

Instead of listing more items on eBay, I'm spending my time trying to help eBay debug their crappy code.

Logic says, the fewer words in the search, the more results you should find; not the opposite.

I spent over an hour on the phone with an eBay Customer Service rep.  I walked her through the steps and she replicated the problem.  We jump to a few different stores and replicated in those stores as well.  We started using different word combinations and found other glitches. 

Unfortunately, I didn't get a strong feeling that the urgency of the GLITCH needed to get a top priority.  It was more of a "I've sent the report and we can only wait and see if anything happens."

NOT GOOD ENOUGH! This is the busiest time of the year for most eBay sellers.  We can't afford to have a glitch like this to not get fixed ASAP.
