I understand I can block a buyer from making any more purchases but what about messaging ? I'm totally fed up with this ex buyer of mine sending me silly irrational messages I'm about to lose my temper . She purchased a Wizard of OZ theme silver tone heart shaped pocket watch necklace from me over a year ago ,, maybe even a year and a half . She paid something like 15. 00 or 16.00 dollars for it with FREE shipping . It took her a month or so after it was delivered to her to begin harassing me with message after message about how I was ripping off customers because the watch she purchased '' coppered out '' . I don't even know what that means . However I remember explaining to her that it makes it very clear on all of my listings that I have a 30 day free returns policy so if she was unhappy with her item she could have returned it for a full refund . So she replies back the watch was junk and she threw it in the trash .I very seriously doubt this is the truth. So today I see I have a question about one of my items for sale and guess who it is ? She wrote '' Are you the one that sold me the watch I threw in the trash because it coppered out ? '' only it was terribly misspelled . Furthermore her question had nothing to do with the item she chose to use to send me this message . As I mentioned I know about blocking business transactions but since I did do business with her [ quite some time ago ] can I still block her messages completely ? Thanks Tulips

Put her on the BBL and do not respond to any messages or offers.
If you have responded lately I was told by customer service it will take 7-10 day before she will be blocked.
If it gets really bad you can call customer service and they can block her from your account.
Hope this helps!

In your Site Preferences/Buyer Requirements you can select the setting that prevents blocked bidders from contacting you.
Unfortunately it's kind of a binary thing - either it applies to everybody blocked or applies to nobody.
So if you use this setting to avoid her messages, it applies to everyone blocked by you or your buyer requirements.
This won't prevent her from contacting your via CONTACT SELLER/this is not about an item. It will only prevent her from contacting you about an item. A lot of buyers aren't aware of this loophole, however.
You could consider replying to her and saying:
Please do not contact me. Any further contact from you will be reported to eBay as harrassment.
Then if she contacts you again, report her to eBay. You must notify someone that their contact is unwelcome.

Thank you ,, if I would have known the question was from her I wouldn't have opened it just to be insulted all over again . In fact it took a few minutes to jog my memory of who she was . I don't know if she's still fishing for a refund or partial refund at this late date or not . I may need to call customer service after all . Tulips

Sorry you are going through this, Tulips.
Seriously, this person can't be expecting an answer. Well, they can, but seriously. NO ONE is going to say, well, yes, I am the one who sold you that. Good to see you!
This reminds me of those who send a message to a seller, asking them if they are selling fakes. If the seller is, do you think they are going to tell you? If they aren't, they will be offended. Do you think they will sell to you?
Block communications, and ignore. It's harassment. Don't let it get to you; just not worth it.

Yeah ,, it's not like a seller is going to say ,, yes I sold you that piece of **bleep** - did you need some more ? LOL ,, oh well ,, all I can say is she isn't the only buyer that purchase that same type of item from me . Far as I know everyone else was happy with them. Tulips

Unfortunately, if she contacts you through the purchase history the block won't work. So just ignore her and delete the messages without reading.

Some folks carry a grudge/mistrust for a long, long, long time. Back in 2000 when I was selling a lot of stuff and still not 100% on my game, I listed a Jones New York blue silk skirt, preowned, in size 18. A buyer purchased it and when I went to pack it, I discovered that I couldn't find it but found my entry for it on the manifest of one of my bins with the item crossed off. I searched my records and discovered to my horror that I'd sold it about 3 months earlier and accidentally relisted it.
I sent my buyer a thousand apologies, and returned her check and enclosed a photocopy of my original eBay notification of sale of the item. I also offered her any item I had listed up to $30 in price, free of charge.
I got a snarky message back basically calling me a liar and suggesting that there was no limit to the extent some sellers will go to deceive their buyers!!!!
Anyway, in 2005, I found this exact same style and color of JNY skirt, new with tags, in Size 16. I listed it.
Within 12 hours of listing it I got a message from the old buyer saying in essence AHA!!!! Gotcha!!!! calling me some choice names and wishing a plague upon me and the next 7 generations of my family.
I wrote her back and said I was really sorry about my error 5 years previously, but that if she checked her records (if she kept any) she'd see that I'd sold her a used Size 18 whereas this was a NWT Size 20, and they were not the same item but that I was especially sorry to learn that she'd been troubled about this for 5 years. I asked (tongue in cheek) How can I make this better for you?
She wrote back and recommended that I perform a physically impossible procedure on myself.
As I say - some people just carry a grudge for a long, long time.

LOL. Did I say size 16 and then size 20? I can't even keep my own story straight! The NWT one was size 20.
Upon reflection, 5 years later the 20 might have fit her. Maybe I should have gifted it to her.

Why don't you simply delete the messages without reading them?

Yes you can, just go into your preferences and under the BBL option also click to block all emails and that should take care of it. If you have responded to any of her emails in the past 90 days she will still be able to contact you through that one link, but otherwise that should block her from any future contact.

Wow, utterly bizarre and yet no real surprise.
I know that we all have stories, some funny, some outrageous and some can leave you somewhat perturbed, I'd like ebay to open a new discussion board for whacky ebay stories just so that you know, as individuals we can stop by for 10 minutes and be reassured that's it's not just happening to us.
After 20 yrs on here I have some rather special ones, I have had offers for a fist fight, threats to visit my home so on and so on, todays was superlative though,
Q Why are you selling this?
Me, basically, because it is mine and I decided to sell it.
Q Oh, good enough, carry on.
it brightened my day no end.
