Discovered I have a "Tracking not loaded on time" defect for a Local Pick-up Sale - I had the listing set for shipping and I also had the "Offer Local Pick-up" box checked - so it was either/or. I called Support today to get it removed and got transferred to a woman who supposedly is in the dept that could help me - She asked me if I was trying to appeal the defect - I said I guess so, and thats when I began hearing some of the most ridiculous things -
First I hear "Let me be straight with you - it is impossible for me to remove the defect" and basically starts her end of call "But thank You for using ebay" spiel - huh??! Did I just hear you right? Are you saying you are not going to remove a defect that was created due to ebay not having a policy on how to work a sale like this that can only end in a bad mark even though I did exactly what I was supposed to do? I worked with the buyer through several emails, went out of my way to meet them and marked everything I could to represent it as a local pick-up sale - I researched ebay policy on how to properly mark a Local Pick-up as delivered and there basically is none from what I could see ion their policy sections. I marked the item paid, marked it shipped and put a note in it saying it was a local pick-up. There is NOTHING else I could do. I also looked on the boards and found virtually the same instruction. So it was NOTHING I did or could have done differently. It is just another example of venue neglect or worse.
So next I get, "Dont worry, this wont hurt your seller performance at all" - huh?? EVERYTHING hurts your seller performance, and if it doesnt hurt or help, then WHY have the metric?? Mind you I'm getting put on hold for lengthy periods while she gets this fine information for me...
After inquiring about what I should do in the future to eliminate this problem(and after another lengthy hold), she starts telling me something about contacting the buyer to get them to do something that would... - I cut her off before she could finish saying "Nooo no no, there is no way I will, or should be expected, to count on a buyer to jump through hoops to try to fix a problem that is unequivocally ebay's - this is something that ebay should already have a fix in place for - Seriously?!?
After making several attempts to get her to transfer me to someone who can help since, according to her, her department is not able to remove that kind of bad mark, now shes trying everything to get me off the phone and starts with the, "I'm going to create a ticket for this situation but you wont know whats being done due to privacy standards" business... huh? I realized I was wasting my time and decided to present the matter here in the hopes one of the Blues might offer some help and to get the information into a public forum so those who are having the same problem might find the proper resource - Help??

I used my other ID to post the last response by accident, and on that one I am a TRS, so possibly that carries over to this username also? - Unsure, though under this two-shoes-review username, it does show me in the Top-Rated Seller Status, and close to the line to go to standard due to this error on ebay's part.

Sellers have complained about customer service not being able to remove undeserved uploaded late marks against them for a very long time so calling a blue about it isn’t going to make a difference. They would say that is why they have built in some room percentage wise for false ‘dings’.
Other sellers who have had local pick ups havent run into this problem so the question is why it has affected you so that it can be prevented in the future. Did the buyer choose local pickup when they checked out?

TRS does not carry over to another user names. Your seller dashboard shows you as a trs? I suspect that you don’t have enough sales yet...

I sometime sell things that relate to our local community's history. I HAVE to offer both "local pick-up" and USPS postage to keep from getting yelled at by friends that often buy things but don't want to pay shipping because they live down the street....and then again I have friends now living in other states that want me to ship. Soooo thanks for bringing this issue up. I HAVE to offer both ways of getting goods to buyers and I don't want to get punished for local pick-ups either. I thought if I went and cliked on the "mark as shipped" then that would take care of it, but evidently not. I'll agree that it's ludicrous for eBay to say "they can't remove" something.... c'mon that is just a ridiculous thing to say... eBay can do whatever they darn will please when it comes to their computer operations. Nobody should get dinged for a local pick-up. It doesn't go against the reasoning eBay uses, but it sounds like some reps have forgotten why eBay charges shipping fees..... if you don't know, it's because people were listing valuable items for 99 cents and charging a $100 in postage to avoid paying eBay their fees. Understandable why eBay had to do that. But local delivery is not an opportunity to avoid paying eBay, it's just a service to customers. IF YOU CHARGE for "local delivery" THEN eBay has a gripe, but not when it is free.
They should remove any ding... and I, like you, don't appreciate ANY BAD marks when I didn't do anything to deserve them. NOBODY should, and I have to wonder at those who's first reply is to say "oh it doesn't matter because you're not a TRS anyway. SURE it MATTERS.. it matters because we try to do what is right and don't want to get beat up for something we didn't cause. I'll take blame when I'm at fault, but NOT when I'm innocent. Just saying!

Thats a good question - I do not know the answer to that - They should have as they knew it was a local pick-up, having gone back and forth with messages before they bought - But if the options are not easily viewable, and its just a matter of click and then commit without a clear presentation of what method you are choosing, then its just another example of ebays obscure and clunky methods.
It still comes down to the point that the bad mark should not be there - They know it, I know it, It is as plain as day and in a case like this, they SHOULD simply REMOVE THE BAD MARK and they SHOULD Implement a way to mark the sale as a LOCAL PICK-UP so there would never be a problem like this for ANYONE EVER Again...

Thank You for reiterating and validating what I have posted - Nicely done!
Its not like they just started allowing Local pick-ups. How is it they do not have a way to CLEARLY mark the sale as a Local Pick-up rather than wonder if you are doing it right? I see many other past posts from other users that have stated the same problem as mine - Its unbelievable they have not simply instituted a clear policy to remove the possibility of this error issue. I did the right thing and reported the item as paid and paid my fees and I get a kick in the head in return....wow
