Is anyone else unhappy about the 'buy it now' listings being only 'good 'til cancelled'? I think for myself it is going to be bad for sales.

@518mallory1970

There are probably about 100 threads on the GTC topic.

Most that post about it are not happy.

Millions of sellers already use GTC. Mostly big sellers, but many small, and  sellers using it as well.

Millions do not post here as they could care less about something they already use becoming the norm.

Some complain of the "no notice" start.

Sellers were message on Feb 26 about the upcoming "Seller Update". Many choose to not read it. The message is not a "opt out of communication" unseen message.

We will have to learn to deal with it. Easy for some. More difficult for others.

There are a lot of sellers who are unhappy, but there are just as many, perhaps more, who regard it as a tempest in a teapot.

Those of us who have been using GTC since it became available, liked it because it is less work and like the new policy because it is aimed at getting unsold monthly listings to catch the eye of Google and be found on the biggest search engine around.

Something eBay messed up a few years back by trying to be smartalecs with The Big G.

The ones who are upset seem to be mostly those who only use Free Listings and who are panicked at the idea they may pay 35 cent or perhaps even a couple of bucks for 30 day listings that relist on the 31st day of a month.

There is a simple fix in my opinion.

The biggest concern is that 35 cent fee if a GTC listing relists on Day 31 of a month.

Because the GTC fees are paid every 30 days.

If the "monthly" listing fee was harmonized with the 30 day listing period , that concern would disappear.

The other concern is the loss of the Newly Listed bump, and I have no suggestions about that.

At least here (US) we knew what the GTC email was about. In Australia it was headed "Seller Health Check" and quite a goodly number just deleted it.

Wondering when it's going to roll out to other sites, as my Canada listings are still 30 days.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

tyler@ebaytold Canadian sellers that April 1 is the switchover day.

So if you list on March 31, your listings can be 30 day. At midnight EDT, that will no longer be possible.

While some Canadian sellers are also worried or disturbed by the changeover, there is a lot less fire and fury in the discussions.

The GTC sucks for me and I'm not listing till I get free ones so my business will dwindle. the point is Ebay pretends this is good for us. IT SUCKS and again we are stuck

Maybe when listing falls off they'll give more 100 freebies. what is the purpose?

PJ, I don’t think he mentioned an actual date in April. I remember him saying .ca would change to GTC sometime in April, but I don’t think he gave a day. I’m betting we will see it mid- April.

Meantime, I was relisting some Unsold Items on dotCOM and was offered the full spectrum of choices. I went for the 30 day on general principles, although normally I go for GTC.

US sellers should note that the listings were on dotCOM although that ID is on dotCA.

Yes, I also am unhappy about this new ruling "Good Until Canceled".  EBay has gone too far to try to figure out how to make more money.  I PAY to have 2 eBay stores for the sole purpose of free listings at the first of every month.  I PAY for the free listings!   Now I cannot list how I want to, even though I PAY for the privilege of listing how I opt to list.  I do NOT want to do a Good Until Canceled listing but I am not given a choice when choosing a Buy It Now option.  Why pay for an eBay Store?  I pay for 2 Stores!!  Only so I could list a large number of items free at the first of every month. Now, through this new ruling when I list 200 items at Buy it Now, when the 30 days are up, eBay automatically relists my items and charges me a fee.  One customer support actually told me to end all my 200 listings at the end of each month -- AND a day later, the first of the month, relist them all again!  Now you've gone too far to extract more money from us sellers.  I am surely not alone in my protests!  Why have eBay Stores?

I wouldn't mind if I only listed a few items, but I list 400 items each month.
