Good luck getting your money from EBay!!

It appears that EBay is getting ready to make the new 87K IRS agents happy!  I wondered by I hadn't received any payments from them for the last 3 months.  I'm a 27 year user of EBay.  They recently had raised the ire of many when they asked for a copy of my bank statement to prove I am me.  With great reluctance I did that along with copies front and back of my drivers license.  Still no money was sent to my  bank!

So I got on a chat with them and they told me this

"I have reviewed your account details thoroughly. I found out that the documents that you have provided for the verification doesn't have your full personal details and last 3 month's transactions. I would request you to download your bank statement from your bank's site and upload its PDf for this verification."

I'm supposed to show them 3 months of my transactions to all my payees???  How can that possibly be a justifiable reason to prove the bank account is mine?  This sounds like the IRS, not EBay!  Has anyone else done this?

Just throwing this in here to maybe make the OP feel a little better.....

After uploading the following because I made a sale (finally):

• Valid Passport
• Valid Driver's License
• July Utility Bill
• 3 months of 'unredacted' current bank statements (nothing really on them, I use them only for online transactions)
• The Homestead Exemption certificate from my house
• My Concealed Carry Permit

I received the following email response.....

Unfortunately, your ID was not accepted. We would require that you complete a video verification. Please upload a video with your ID and face.

Thank you.

Seriously? LOL

Oh, BTW, this was NOT ebay or Amazon...

I guess I am saying, it happens, just be patient and it will work out.....

FWIW. my ebay transition to MP was simple and painless

Looks like you joined in '99? We see these proof of identify posts in here all the time. Until your recent sales, you havent sold anything for more than a year,so Ebay is treating you as a new seller, and expect your funds to be held anyway.Ebay is just making sure your acct hasnt been hacked, and they prefer that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.

I've been selling my 3D printed products regularly on EBay for years.  I think it has more to do with the upcoming crackdown on unreported income by the new Gestapo IRS.

Trust me, eBay is not creating busy work for IRS agents.

Off topic, sorry.

I still see no reason why EBay needs to see who I paid money to for the last 3 months.  I'm open for suggestions, though.

     Prior to converting over to MP I opened a separate checking account just for the eBay transactions, I also have a couple of others to handle funds from other third party payment processors. I put a couple dollars into the account every month and when eBay requested it I did in fact provide it but the only thing it showed was the minimal deposits. They also requested a copy of my drivers license, front and back, which I had no problem with. 

     This is not the IRS but it is eBay exercising due diligence over the sellers. It is a shame that they don't do the same for the buyer community to cut down on the fraud, scamming and theft.

I've been getting my money from eBay regularly, so I guess I have good luck. 🙄
