Glitch - reassigning a listing to another seller?

I was attempting to update a listing through my Seller Hub and it would not allow me to do so because I "was not the seller". When I click through to the listing, it is all my information including pictures, description and shipping from location but a different seller username. Called ebay and the CS rep seemed completely confused and honestly, wasn't really helpful at all except to tell me to relist the item. Strangely, the item then disappears from my Seller Hub while I'm talking to her. She said that she did not delete it and it still shows up in the other person's store.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? Or a guess of what might have happened here? It's concerning to me that our listings can just get reassigned and ebay never seems to know what's happened.

Well, it's a brand-new one on me. I'm on the edge of my seat...

I get those "you are not the seller" types of messages when I'm reading offsite notifications about my selling account (i.e. in my offsite email account that's tied to my selling account) while I am currently logged into my buying account via another window. Clicking on any link in the notification will get me that error, because it's a secure link to a login that I am not currently using.

Another possibility is that someone else (the user ID you didn't recognize) has copied your listing lock, stock and barrel. Exactly which one of yours were you trying to update?

What you've described is slightly terrifying?

There are a number of reports of this and similar problems going on.

Re: Glitch - reassigning a listing to another seller?

I thought about this but then why would it link to that listing when I click it in my Seller Hub? Instead of mine. And it also was the only listing in their store with my city and state as the Ships From location.

I messaged the seller and they seemed genuinely confused as well and offered to end the listing. I really don't think they just copied the listing.

I can't show you my original listing because it deleted itself, but here is the new listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164893856225

Here is the listing now assigned to the other seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164875848634?ul_noapp=true

It's weird and I have no clue what happened.

Why have they not ended the listing?

This all just happened, so I assume they haven't seen my reply asking them to go through with that. But we'll see.

I'm not sure they're the same "listing" that suddenly moved from your user to another......the title and item specifics are different.

I'm not saying something hinky isn't going on but if it was a listing that migrated to another user, I'd expect every detail to be identical.

Re: Glitch - reassigning a listing to another seller?

Looking closer, they share the same location (yours) which is different than the other seller's location.

Also not that the the other seller's items are TRP and yours are not. The item in the other seller's store does not display TRP as the others do.

This is beyond bizarre. I don't know what I'm looking at.

Did you edit the listing when you put it back up? I'm trying to understand why they wouldn't be identical.

This is weird. Do you see the vanished listing when you go to the Ended listings page on Seller Hub?

Re: Glitch - reassigning a listing to another seller?

The new listing from me was an entirely new listing (not a relist) so it might have different item specifics if I didn't select the exact some ones the second time around. Also, the other seller told me he was able to edit the listing and may have done so before ending it, which he has since done.

I cannot see the listing in my ended listings in my seller hub. It literally has disappeared from my account.

Very weird.

I would advise a change in password.

This is a strange one.  Very strange one.

A possible security issue at the least. Post this on the tech board.

Not me, but yes.

Was your item brought in through Shopify like the other seller's item was (article linked above), @westfieldvintage?
