Hello everyone who reads this. I recently tried selling a camera and thought I received the money. I shipped the camera to the buyer without looking into it and according to an expert seller I was scammed, the email given to me for the payment was a fake. Is there any way I can either get the camera back or find a way to be compensated? I still have the tracking number of the package and the username of buyer but that's it.

What are you mean with "the email given to me for the payment was a fake" , How the buyer paid you??!

If you didn't see the camera in your Seller Hub/Orders/Awaiting shipment, then yes, you've probably been scammed. Never go by emails. If it's the camera you sold way back on 10/9, then it's probably been delivered so you can't recall the package... have you checked the tracking info?
Another issue I see... it appears that you have the same camera listed now. How can that be if you've shipped it? 🤔

Also how you re-listed the camera again on ebay if you have already shipped it??!

About the only recourse you have is through law enforcement and you have a lot more information than you think. You have the full name of the individual and their full address. File a police report with the police in the buyers town/city. If the buyer's id is still active report the scam to eBay. Nothing may come of it but if the police see a reoccurring pattern they may investigate further. If it was an international sale you are probably out of luck.

Nothing in what you have said makes sense. So first why are you going through emails on items?? Second how did you ship the item are you saying that you don't ship through eBay i.e. seller hub? If you arranged a sale via email and eBay does not know about it then you might want to accept that you were violating eBay policy and your contract. If they do know about it (very strange) Reach out to Ebay and they may be able to help. I highly doubt it though.

So many unanswered questions.....

The expert who helped me told me the email that said I was paid was a fake and that I wasn't actually paid. I don't have the money in my wallet and the buyer won't reply to any messages. I'm trying to see how I can recover anything from this. I still have record it was sold and shipped to him, but that's it.

I was told to relist by the expert, I can just take it down right now.

If they told you to relist an item you shipped, they must not be much of an expert.

So you got a fake Paypal message that your buyer had paid. Sellers are no longer paid by Paypal.Hard lesson for you, Im sorry.

If it hasn't been delivered, see if you can have the package intercepted.
Other then that, nothing you can do.

Unless you get the post office to stop and intercept, you will not get your camera back. Never accept any payments via any alleged buyer off the Ebay platform. Get to the PO right away before it closes.
Very sorry for your situation.

Was the expert from customer service? They are anything but experts. They are outsourced contracted labor over seas and the replies they gave you are scripted and programmed. Never trust Ebay customer service because they are NOT Ebay employees. Go to this link if you ever need help:

These are credible US cs agents that actually work for Ebay and are more likely help you with your issue. Many positive outcomes posted here in their ability to be helpful.

Get to your post office NOW and intercept. I hope yours has Saturday hours. It will cost $15 but better than losing $640.
I'm not sure who this 'expert' was, but relisting something you already shipped makes no sense. It's better to come here than talk to eBay CS, they often give wrong information it seems.
But get to the post office - don't wait.
If you get the camera back, try in-person selling. A 0 feedbacker with expensive stuff is a prime target for what just happened to you. Sell less expensive things to get going here.
