Getting my manual refund from eBay

Sold my Sony AX2000 Video Camera on eBAY back on January 3, 2023 and I have complete proof and documentation from the USPS that the camera was delivered on January 5, 2023 to the buyer. Because the shipping time took 2 extra days of getting to the buyer, the buyer claimed that the camera was either lost or stolen and started badgering me for a refund. I contacted eBAY and they advised that I should probably go ahead issue the seller the refund which I did. A few days later I visited the USPS where I live and the clerk at the post office ran a search for the missing and supposedly un-delivered camera. Within minutes the postal clerk

printed out a USPS Product Tracking & Reporting document that clearly indicates that the camera was delivered to the eBAY buyer on January 5, 2023 at 13:53 hours and left on the buyers front porch. 

I immediately contacted eBAY and an eBAY supervisor sent me via an eMAIL a document up-loader so that I

could send eBAY the USPS the Product & Tracking Report stating without unquestionable proof that my Sony AX200 Video Camera was delivered to the buyer. I have been begging eBAY to send me a "manual refund" which they have said they would do, but as of this day I have not received my refund for the amount of $500.00 which is what I refunded to the eBAY buyer. So now the eBAY buyer has my camera and my $500.00.

I've tried calling eBAY again this afternoon about my refund, but all I kept getting after a dozen attempts to get a real human on the line was eBAY's recorded message. Then after the 12th time of trying to get somebody on the line eBAY apparently started blocking my call by playing a recorded message that sounded like a robot was speaking. If any one has had any experience with eBAY that closely mirrors my horrible situation please contact me. Public record shows that in the last 3 years eBAY has had 13,300 complaints filed against them.

After 21 years of loyalty to eBAY and over 500 completed transactions with a perfect 100% Feedback Record this is how eBAY has decided to treat me. I intend to fight them all the way on this and will be discontinuing my so called loyalty to them as well.

I just have always prepared my own shipping labels via the USPS or UPS. Thanks

Hard truth, you should have never sent the refund without the product returned to you, no matter who told you to do so.  Second if eBay gets the delivered tracking after you refunded it is between you and the Buyer not eBay and that is how they do it.  eBay does not care about their Sellers this from someone that has been on the site over 23 years and completed over 150k sales.  Sad

Yes I agree, but I've never been in this situation before and I just figured I would get the correct advise by contacting eBAY.  At this point it doesn't really matter what I should or shouldn't have done. 

I've been contemplating ending my eBAY membership for a while now, this is the opportunity to do so.

The truth is I can live quite happily without eBAY, I actually wish I had ended this membership many years earlier.

You sold it Jan. 3rd and it was delivered on Jan. 5th.

What two extra days are we talking about?

You are certainly free to do so, but if you were looking for a scapegoat reason it's neither ebay's fault nor ours.

Since an attorney is going to charge you and NEVER win anything; you should stop spending additional money on that attny. 

 

YOU decided to refund the customer without checking the tracking first, or without waiting for a 'refund case' to be opened (why didn't you just check the tracking on the usps website before refunding??)

 

YOU decided to NOT upload the correct tracking number, so even if the buyer did open an official return and you then would have inputted a number that NEVER delivered- you would lose that case anyway. 

 

Either way, you would be out the money.

 

You need to be talking with the buyer to refund you direct, or you can take that buyer to court (small claims) but it must be done in their city.

I mean even if u waited to refund the buyer, he would have returned you a rock and got the camera and money anyways if that was his intentions.   Your out the camera and your cash. Hard truth. This place sucks nowadays for a seller.
