Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

I just had four bidders who won items yesterday email saying they can't pay, please cancel the item.

I cancel the items, each select 'buyer asked to cancel' and 'relist'  in that screen and I get a warning that the relist failed?

I then go to manually relist the item and realize that the last four items that relisted automatically this morning all got charged $.35 each, and when I went to relist the four cancelled items, or tried to list them as new listings, they failed to relist.

I thought we had 250 free listings here, This is on one of my personal accounts, not one of my work accounts.

That account has 60 items listed, half of which have relisted several times, but even if I count the relists, I'm not at 250. Besides, they never hit me with any fees in the past for relists, even when I had over 120 items listed and 80 or so being relisted each week.

Sales have been terrible, one or two sales a month at best lately, if they're going to start charging for every listing its not worth listing here. There's just not enough traffic and not enough buyers lately.

A year ago the same account was doing $3k/mo, now I'm lucky to sell $50/mo.
The 5 accounts I handle at work have been the same way. No buyers, no watchers, and about half the items that do sell are to bidders who don't pay.

Just on my personal account I've had 20 no pay bidders this year alone.

About half the NPB are foreign bidders, who likely didn't realize how much eBay was going to gouge them through the Global Shipping system.

(A $20 item with $4.50 First class shipping was going to cost the buyer an additional $37 in fees and shipping through the GSP according to the buyer. I can't blame him but don't they see this before they bid?)

I've had other buyers ask if I could ship direct because the fees through the GSP were more than the item was worth itself. Most requests come from Japan, the UK, and Canada.

None of which though explains the sudden listing fees? I thought listing fees were done away with a long time ago and we had 250 free items per month?  (The one relisting that did go through and which accrued the $.35 fee was listing number 111 for the month if you count relisted items from the past three weeks. )

I turned off all automatic relisting till this gets sorted out. If not, there will be no more relisting. There's just not enough sales here lately.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

Two of the three who said they 'Couldn't or weren't going to pay say they were going to be charged more than double the cost of the item plus US shipping via GSP.
Considering that the seller also gets an added fee, and its a $20 item, its just not worth it on either end.

Its not the first time I've had Canada buyers back out due to the cost of the GSP.
Either they don't pay attention to the total ad or they don't. The one buyer emailed me a screen shot showing what they wanted to charge him.

For an item listed at $19.99, with $4.50 shipping via USPS First Class Mail here he was going to have to pay $53.41 in Canada dollars for an item I listed at $20 USD with the cheapest possible shipping.  A lot of the visual increase is the exchange rate, plus the cost of the GSP service.

Its also not a rare or hard to find item, I suppose he could find one locally for a lot less, I certainly would.

I started using the GSP because it saved me filling out a bunch of customs forms for every item that left the U.S.

It depends on the situation whether I wait or not but since I had emails saying they couldn't pay or had no intent to pay, I just wanted it over and relisted. Waiting 4 or more days is that much longer it sits on the shelf here.

What got me was that two of them bid the instant the item went live. They had plenty of time to realize what they bid on. If I hadn't gotten emails, I'd have waited and made sure they got a strike.

Gallery plus is not checked.

The items that automatically renewed after not selling were also listed with no fee, but yet they relisted and got charged $ .35 each.

It charged every item that relisted successfully after 3am. Items were in several  unrelated categories.

The fees got charged before I got the various emails and canceled those bids. If it weren't for the first item I canceled failing to relist, I wouldn't have noticed the fees piling up as unsold items from last night began to relist. It seems to have started at 3am EST. Items that relisted before that didn't get charged any fees, those after 3am all got hit with $ .35 each.

It will not let me list anything now, it just keeps failing to list each time I hit 'List item'. The screen changes but returns to the same screen with no notice or warnings. I get the same thing on the two work accounts I tried too.

When I try to contact eBay or trigger any contact it tells me "Its not you, our servers are down, try again later".

I didn't cancel a listing, I canceled the sale after the buyers said they weren't going to pay. Why wait and let the item sit on the shelf with no chance of selling?

I don't have facebook.
There used to be a phone number to call but none of those pages are showing now.

I get also get a warning saying "Its not you, our server is down, please try again later", when I try to hit any of the Contact links.

Did you have an multiple listing, one were you have a bunch of the same items one can purchase 1 or more at a time???

I just looked back to Feb, Mar, and April, I had 85 items listed those months, nothing sold in Feb or Mar. Every item relisted four time both months, and I never got hit with a listing fee. If relisted items counted toward the total, why didn't they then?

Up till around October of '21, i rarely had to relist anything, its gotten steadily worse since then.

No multiple listings, just auction and a few fixed price items.
I put the less popular items up as fixed price since they often sit for months before they're found these days. With the way sales have been lately, they will all end up as fixed price sales, especially if they're going to charge me to list or relist items. If the 250 free listings are gone, this isn't worth the trouble anymore.
There's just not enough buyers lately.

If their going to charge a listing fee, it don't make much sense to add it to the item, things are already not selling here, compiling listing fees on top of it will only make it worse.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

Were you able to stop 'auto-relist'? I went on as soon as I saw the fee piling up and turned off "relist over and over till item sells" in Seller's hub but another badge of sales just went off again this morning that didn't sell and they still relisted despite me changing the setting.
Is it not possible to stop 'auto relist' mid auction or maybe within 24 hours?

Its cost me over $14 in fees so far that I've not never been hit with before. Each charge is listed as an 'Insertion fee $0.35".

I went back 6 months and I've never once been hit with a listing fee or had relisted items count toward my 250 free listing total.

This is the first month though since the check box disappeared from the initial ad copy. I know have to go into Actions and click on the new ads and set the auto relist rule each time I put new items up.
A few items that were on auto relist failed to relist, I got no email as to this but they just went down, the email came in saying they were 'relisting' but when instead of relisting, they're sitting in the unsold folder now. 19 auto-relisted since Sunday, 4 have failed, 4 got cancelled after buyers emailed and said they won't be paying. I thought I killed all the auto relist actions yesterday morning but more have tried to relist, a few did a few didn't for some reason.

It won't let me  list a new item, it keeps returning to the ad copy screen with no warning at all.

The List Item button acts like I just hit 'refresh'.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

@reelworks, @njfleamarket

It makes a big difference what type of listings you have.

Fixed Price listings are good 'til canceled, and they relist every month on the same day of the month, until there are no more left. Each time they relist, they will use one of your free-insertion-fee listings up, or if you don't have any left, then you will be charged an insertion fee.

Auction format listings are usually only for 7 days. While you are considered a new or casual seller, there's an option to relist these up to 8 times for free or until they sell. You can uncheck this, if you don't want to use it, but it's free while its available. However, once you are no longer considered to be a new or casual seller, then this option will go away. I don't believe there is any way to get it back. If you don't or can't use the 8 free auction relists. then each new auction listing or relisting will use one of your free-insertion-fee listings or be charged an insertion fee.

Otherwise, you will be charged for each new listing or relisting, after you have  used up your free-insertion-fee listings. You should keep track of the fees, and try to use the free listings to your best advantage.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

The auto relist for 8 weeks went away three months ago. I had to start setting up auto-relist in the Seller Hub under Actions.

If I tally up the number of 30 day fixed price items, which will only count once per month if they relist, plus 48 that run on 7 day auction format, even if every one of the 48 were to not sell and relist, I'm only at 210 for the month of May counting two items that sold April 30.

It also won't let me complete a listing manually now. It keeps jumping back to the top of the page when I hit list item but with no error noted.
With basically nothing selling here lately I certainly can't have it accruing fees.

Items that were selling as fast I listed them a couple months ago have gone silent and nearly everything ends up being relisted over and over before it finally sells. I went from shipping a dozen items a day to not yet selling that many all year.

It looks to me like ebay wants me to just do all fixed price listings? that way I can have 250 items up and if I put a two day delay on the auto relist they'll not relist more than once a month keeping the monthly total at 250.  (I'll likely never put that many up on my personal account though, with the way things have been here lately it would likely be a huge waste of time and effort).

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

If I hit my 250 free item total, will that prevent me from listing any more items?

I went ahead and tried to list a few items anyway to keep all the ads from going down, but it doesn't seem to let me list, I write the ad, click list, its shows a $.35 free and it just returns to the same page when i hit list. No error code, nothing wrong with the ad, it just won't go any further.

I tallied up all items, with 27  7 day auction items listed and 30, fixed price - good till cancelled items listed that renew every 30 days, even if each of the 27 items renewed 5 times in one month, plus the 30 fixed price items renewing, that's only 165.  (It still reads 169 free listings remaining in my Seller Hub).  I've added only four new items this month before it started charging me, and now has locked me out somehow.

All but  a few items have cycled out now, with only 34 left listed. Not that it matters much I suppose since there doesn't seem to be anyone even looking these days.

(While unrelated, two of the three Canada bidders who won and emailed they can't pay are now showing as 'No longer a registered user".) The one US bidder who won and also sent a message saying he wasn't going to pay sent me a nasty message though a new account name blasting me for blocking him. (new name is his name plus a number just one digit higher than the one I blocked). I added that name to the blocked list as well.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

The month is now new, I have let all my auction items end, (no sales), and only 10 Fixed Price items remain.
The total in Seller Hub under promotions still shows 169 remaining?

If the cause of all this was me hitting the 250 total via automatic relistings, wouldn't that number again reset?

I haven't listed or relisted anything since 5/23.

Shouldn't my total of items for my personal account have reset at the start of the month?

It still shows $ .35 to list a new item, and it refuses now to relist an expired listing without a fee?

It more is started to look like they took away the 250 free listings.

Not that it seems to matter much, not a single item had a watcher or look despite selling many of each item in the past with the same ad.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

The 250 free relisting's reset at the first of the month but nothing should be deducted until a new listing uses one or when a previously listed item renews.

Sounds like there is a bug in your account.

I would call eBay and see if they can figure it out.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

Its not just my personal account, the accounts I deal with at work are doing the same thing, the remaining item number is incorrect even on two accounts that they let the ads all expire on.

I just tried again to list, its showing $ .35 fee for every item and nothing is checked off. Its as if I no longer have free listings.

I'll look for a number and try calling after noon or so when I get home. I'm not sure if work wants me to bother with their accounts since absolutely nothing has sold in two months here. They went from hundreds of items a week to zip over the last 7 months. I've seen dead spells but not 7 month long dead spells in all categories.

Re: Getting charged $.35 on each listing all of a sudden? Only 60 items listed

I have the same thing here, $.35 fee on every listing or relist.

A month has passed and no change. I let my ads dwindle down to 10 or so BIN listings on 30day cycles, yet it still shows the same number of ads left in Seller's hub. I've not listed anything since the start of this month.

Nothing has sold or gotten so much as a look in weeks, so it really don't matter. Its as if all my ads are suddenly invisible. I see other identical items selling for more but mine were going untouched with no watchers or bids.

It makes no sense to be here if I have to start paying to list every 7 days, things rarely sell the first or even the second week, and lately nothing sells at all. It would be just throwing money away.

At this point I just quit listing or relisting and will let the remaining ads run as long as they're free.

This all started when the 'Relist for up to 8 weeks' option went away.

I've been on here for almost 20 years now and I've never seen it so dead before.
