Well, GenX was first used by Douglas Coupland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_X:_Tales_for_an_Accelerated_Culture
To describe the tail end of the Baby Boom (1946-64)- those born in the Sixties who came of age just in time for another Republican Recession.
Gen Y and Z came from that.
https://www.beresfordresearch.com/age-range-by-generation/
I'm not sure why Gen Alpha should start now. What shift in culture will make them stand out.
Boomers- well there were a lot of us.
Gen X - missed out on the "prosperity" of our early working years
Millennials are the children of Boomers
Gen Z are called the first "digital natives".

One sources puts it this way:
Gen Beta will grow up in a technology-driven world, characterized by widespread use of artificial intelligence, autonomous transportation and immense digital experiences.

Simple- it was X then Y (Millennials) then Z, then starts over. A B C D etc only they are calling those letters with the old 'greek' style of Alpha, then Beta etc.

Due to advances in knowledge of quantum entanglement, we're just around the corner from quantum computing. Coupled with AI integration and holographic systems, it's believed users will not be able to discern reality from simulation; or, are we already at that point and simply don't realize it.
Leonard Susskind, one of the greatest minds in quantum physics and subscribes to the Holographic Principle, stating, "our 3-D Universe appears to be a hologram: our reality coded on a distant two-dimensional image."
Although I've never paid much attention to societal labels, l I sure wouldn't want to be known as a Gen Beta, regardless of the rationale behind the naming.

The Lost, Greatest and Silent Generations will always be the greatest in my book. I try not to complain because what they endured makes my generation look weak.
People like to say our education is much further along than the 1900's, but, most people today couldn't even pass an 8th grade exit exam c1900. It was more of a practical, no multiple choice.
Here's an 1895, 8th grade exit exam from Salina, Kansas. Yeah, it was a 6 hour exam.

One way too look at it might be.....There's Alphas and Betas. Alphas lead and think for themselves. Betas follow and don't. With AI and so many media sources already thinking for youngsters and so many seemingly uable to think for themselves...............
Maybe wishful thinking by the powers that be that they will finally get the compliant population they seem to want so bad? One that just does as they are told.
I sure am glad I'm old enough to remember how to think and not depend on technology for everything and every decision I make. A friend told me his wife asked "How many feet are 120 inches" and reached for her smart phone. He got to it first and told her to just think for a moment. She already knew the answer but is programmed to rely on technology for even basic math. A 65 year old Beta. There will be many more to come in the future...........Maybe that's it?

it's a test generation? 😆
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...
