I don't like change just like everyone else. But it's coming some time in Mid-March. I think it is a good idea to give it a try, test-drive it, before we are all automatically converted over to it. On my next few listings, I plan to make them GTC instead of my usual 30 day fixed BIN, just so I can see what it looks like, see if I can figure out how to make it work for me.

Many of us have tried it as some point in our eBay selling history. IMHO it is useless to "test drive it" now before all the associated software changes are implemented.

Tried GTC for over a year, switched to 30 day listings and doubled my sales for the following 12 months.

Why try it early? Do you want to pay extra fees. This is definitely a money grab. I don't believe the garbage that they need for items to have the same item number to be found in Google. If that were try , why even allow 7 day auctions here? My concern besides fees is that the buyer will not see an urge to click BUY . But I am wondering what if all sellers wrote in their descriptions that they are going to close the auction on a specific date if that will create a sense of urgency on the buyer to click it the buy it now.
I also don't like that the item will restart at the same time. Perhaps if ebay allowed the seller to pick when the item can restart, say start 1 hour or 2 hours later to keep it simple when you list.

And I had the opposite experience.
Used GTC for years, then switched to 30 days, on the basis that those have better showings in Search.
No noticeable difference in sales, and more work .(My items are all slow selling collectibles and mostly one of a kind. I sold a book today that was first listed in 2007.)
I have returned to GTC.
I do monitor my listings and on their last day, if the number of views is "too high" I close the listing for a while, or even just remove it entirely.
"Too many" views? It's Buy It Now. If it's been seen 100 times and no one bought it, it's stale.
What this does mean is that if you firmly believe that your items sell best when they are about to close, you should perhaps try a suggestion that another poster made.
List as a ten day auction with a Buy It Now.
Use your Fixed Price as either the starting bid or the BIN.
The BIN only disappears if you have a bidder, so the item has sold.
The Auction+BIN will be high in Search on Day One and Day Ten, for those buyers who Search with Newly Listed/ About to Close.

Like others who have been selling here for decades, I've tried GTC.
It didn't increase my sales.

I use GTC but constantly switch items back and forth to auction mode, these days we just have to absorb fees as part of the business, taxes to.

Thanks, candd205
Good idea..."test drive" a few to see how it works for you & the stuff you sell....looks like we'll all have to deal with it, so might as well put a toe in the water now & start figuring out how to make it work for our individual situations.

IMHO if it's been viewed zero times, it's just as stale - because either (a) no one searched for it, or (b) the people who did were not interested enough to click into it 🙂
