I have never posted a thread before until now. This idea has to be one of EBAY's worst ever.
we constantly are running 7 and 10 days auctions and re-listing them. Simply because of the
fact that people see an item, put it in their watch list, and we always get lots of action the last
24-48 hours before it ends. And if they miss it, sometimes they come back to the new listing
when we start it back up. WOW, this is a really dumb idea.....do you hear me EBAY??
Please send some feedback, whether you agree or not....I'm talking to sellers like me.
Thank you! P.S. I could live with -one- other option like 10 day or 15 day.

Ebay does NOT care about buyers and sellers AT ALL.
They just want to add a penny to stock value.
STOCKS ARE TANKING "BECAUSE" OF THEIR DEAFNESS TO USERS.

eBay please revert this change. Allow anyone who wants the benefits of GTC (old ones and all the new ones) to have it and please leave us others alone. I believe huge majority of us sellers would highly appreciate if you stop doing us favors and helping us, as you do for last couple of years.

Ebay want more money that`s why I think they did "good till cancelled". If you will not cancel your listings before the expiration date then Ebay will make big money of the posting of your items if you don`t have same number free listings promotions at that time! ( I think Ebay computer program will be sure not to give you free listings at that time) I have only 50 free listings and I posted 100 items and I am planing to cancel 50 by the end of 30 days, I hope Ebay will let me to do it! Ebay want more money from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GTC has been available for years and I'm sure many sellers like its features. That being said, those of us who prefer to control our own inventory and listings were quite happy with the 30 day duration option. We didn't denigrate sellers who used GTC, or insist that they use 30 day listings like we do. My problem is having the option, that worked for me, removed with no intelligent rationale. We're not all the same and there is no reason to remove options and shove GTC down out throats. Having the GTC style is fine for those that like it. But it's not one size fits all.

I AGREE AND AM VERY ANGRY AT EBAY FOR DOING THIS. I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY AND BASE MY LISTING TIMES AROUND MY TRAVEL DATES. I CANNOT BELIEVE EBAY DID THIS. BUYERS ARE NOT SEEING LISTINGS UNTIL IT GETS CLOSED TO THE END OF THE SALE. ONCE I HAVE COMPLETED MY EXISTING INVENTORY, AFTER YEARS OF BEING ON EBAY, I WILL NO LONGER SELL. MY SALES ARE TERRIBLE, EVEN THOUGH I PRICE COMPETITIVELY. BUYERS CANNOT SEE MY LISTINGS UNTIL THE LAST FEW DAYS OF THE SALE.
EBAY YOU SUCK AND YOU ARE FORCING GOOD PEOPLE AND SELLERS TO LEAVE. ONCE MY INVENTORY IS SOLD, I WILL NO LONGER DO THIS. I AM HAVING TO CANCEL ALL MY LISTINGS BECAUSE I LEAVE FOR VACATION ON SUNDAY - VERY ANGRY WITH THIS DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the phone, I let them Record my thoughts (At least I hope they did). I know 50 listings are free. I know that they own this site. But it is MY store. This "automatic relist" to GTC takes away my right to let an item fall off if it's not getting any views. The Ebay representative also told me that the only way to stop that from happening, is to End the listing a day before the 30 day relist. That forces me to Lie to customers. Ebay marks the item that has been ended as "No longer available". Can you imagine any store owner telling a customer that comes thru their door and asks for an item, that they don't have any, even though it is in a back storeroom? I think the bottom line is that Ebay eventually wants to get rid of all free listings, unless you buy a monthly subscription store. They say that they are loosing business to Amazon. Well, this GTC idea is going to chase sellers away to other more affordable sites (They get 12% of your final value in the Collectable category), and that diminishes the number of items being sold on Ebay. That knocks down their revenue. How logical is that?

GTC is now automatic, according to a phone call I made to Ebay. So, if an item is not getting any views, why would you Maybe not want to relist it and try another item? Why should we loose our right to run our store or turnover our stock the way we want to? I know they own this site, but it's my store. This automatic GTC idea will drive sellers away to less expensive sites. How is that helping? And do they possibly want to get rid of all "50 free items" listings? I think so. Do they want to weed out the little guys? Maybe.

I totally agree. And what hasn't been touched on, is when the item is ended at day 29, they put that the item is no longer available. That makes a seller a liar. Can you imagine a customer comes into a store to ask for an item. The store owner says they don't have any left, even though there is one in a store room in the back? I think the bottom line (which is very illogical) is that they want to get rid of all "50 free listings" and all the small guys. That's my feelings. I wonder how fast the number of items for sale drops? The buyers will Have to go to Amazon.

They think they're being helpful. They want to make it as hard as they can for the little guys or the collector items sellers to finally get mad enough to leave. Remember, that every once in a while, a CEO has to come up with an idea to make his bonus check. He has no judge to look over his idea. This GTC idea is not going to be effective against Amazon. 12% fee off the "collectable category" . Wow.

Sorry to see you go, but I'm probably right behind you.
04-04-2019 09:09 AM
Sorry to cut in. I'll answer that. Ebay is telling you, the store owner, that you can no longer rely on an item ending on it's own after 30 days, thereby giving you the option whether to relist it or not. So, now you have to end it early. And that (according to the Ebay rep I talked to on the phone) tells a customer that the item is no longer available. That's A Lie. I already had a guy ask me if I still had a book I was selling. (He was not a watcher). I had to tell him yes, but that I was not getting many views, so I ended it Temporarily. That is the Hurdle.
04-04-2019 09:27 AM
That is exactly what you have to do. End it on day 29. And the problem with that is that you are telling a customer that the item is no longer available. And That is a lie. Customer service told me on the phone that is what happens when you end an item early. So I guess I will have to do "Auction only" for 10 days, and take off working on Ebay for the other 20. I don't know how in the world that's helping Ebay's profits. I guess they want the little guys to go away.
04-04-2019 09:30 AM
Not only is it not fun anymore and this GTC idea being hard on the little guy but now I will have to do "Auction only" for 10 days, and take off working on Ebay for the other 20. I don't know how in the world that's helping Ebay's profits. I guess they want the little guys to go away.
04-04-2019 09:35 AM
Not to mention the fact that when you have to end a listing at day 29, Ebay gives the message to any buyer that the item is no longer available, when in fact that is a LIE. If an item hasn't gotten many views in a couple of months, them why not pull it for a while? We can no longer run our store the way we want to.
