Hello everyone!
Our holiday Community chit chat post was so fun and generated a lot of great ideas, especially delicious holiday recipes. We wanted to continue the conversation but with new topics.
Here’s how it’ll work, twice a month, we’ll post a new chit chat topic and will keep the post open for a couple of weeks. Our moderators will make sure the post stays on topic and that the content is appropriate. Once two weeks have passed, we’ll close the post, and we’ll post a new topic.
The idea for the holiday chit chat came from a Community member so we wanted to ask you, the Community, what fun topics would you like to talk about this year? Keep in mind that the content doesn’t have to be strictly related to eBay.
Here are some ideas that come to mind:
1. Let’s talk about our pets
2. What’s your perfect weekend?
3. What’s the most useful thing you own?
So what would you like to chit chat about this year?

This is my personal opinion-
I don't think there's anything stopping any poster from starting their own eBay-related topics. If I want to know about what your essential shipping tools are then there's nothing that says I can't go right on over to the Shipping board and start that discussion.
I don't see a need for the eBay team to start general eBay discussion topics when we can do that ourselves.
I could be wrong- but I thought the point of this was for off-topic content since we're not allowed to start those kinds of posts ourselves here on the Selling board.
This is the type of content I want to see as far as eBay topics led by the eBay team-
- A discussion on the Payments board lead by the Payments team letting us know they're redesigning the page and what do we need functionally- and what would we prefer cosmetically to improve what's already there. And the team should participate in the discussion.
- A discussion here on the Selling board led by the Seller Hub team asking us what functionality we're missing or what existing functionality needs improvement and the SH team should actively participate. (I don't think this should be on the Seller Hub board because nobody really posts there.)

You mean you'd rather participate in threads about improving functionality than why blue is my favorite color? You wound me. /s

Hi Sheila,
I have an important topic that I don't believe I've ever seen discussed here before. It's our elderly community " hiding" valuables without notifying relatives.
I have mentioned before on the boards that I volunteer twice a week at our local thrift shop, the estate items that come in are usually a full household/clothing/ jewelry that the next of kin throw into bins without checking.
We have found wads of cash in back jean pockets, books, travel mugs and even purses with multiple pockets. I think the worst is when an older couple came in this past fall after they had made a donation 2 weeks before. She wanted to look thru our socks? Ok? Turns out she placed her valuable engagement ring set in the bottom of the toe of her socks when she was gone for the summer. Then made a cleaning out donation to us when she got back.
We all were saddened to hear this as most of our socks go down to Vegas for the homeless.
So please discuss hiding money or valuables with your elderly parents, and get them a small safe with key. It's better than putting $500 in an old Atlas book that will be thrown out when they pass away.

Well then...why IS blue your favorite color? Enquiring minds want to know.

That is an excellent topic! I used to price and manage estate sales and always told people to shake out or at least fan the pages of all the books. Books are a favorite place to hide cash.

Well just to say a good idea:
Worst place (or best if you think about it) was in old paint cans in the garage that valuables had been hid in...
Most were thrown before I found out about em. saved some..

@donsdetour. Yes Don and moon doggie too, Paint cans! Our friends dad died 2018 and upon cleaning out dad's garage, daughter in law found a boat load of cash hidden in those paint cans! But DIL knew Dad did this so she went to town searching.
But it's a concern of mine because I see it all the time when I'm working, although the donations are appreciated, nice jewelry, keepsakes and cash belong to the heirs.

Hey pburn...got some ideas for topics!
Riffing off the 'refurbished' thread:
How to use eBay to recycle and help the planet. Sellers/Buyers included.
Selling and buying used items that can be RE-used.
ie, made into other things that can be re-sold, gifted, used again.
That's all I can think of right now....

"There will never be a normal again..."
I hate to even think that.

Maybe, therapeutic for some members. Others, have bigger challenges on their hands to address. I don’t think people want to make eBay become their armchair psychiatrist.
It's called a 'water cooler.'

You replied to my earlier post- but I never said anything about things being normal?
