One step closer to be like Amazon.
Well done ebay .. or is is it ...
Reducing individual hard working sellers, the back-bone of ebay, to mere product brokers working on razor thin margins.
More junk delivered faster to the ignorant masses.
Paving your own path, being different and/or leveraging the strength and uniqueness of individual sellers all be damned. Or when strategy building gets reduced to just copying the bully down the road .. but not quite.

Until I started reading the forums this year I never realized how much Ebay has changed into a place that is unrecognizable from its origins when I first started. Having a day job, I have been piddling along with my 50 free and any promotions that came along, not paying much attention to the evolving world of Ebay. When I look at Ebay now I feel sad. Some say change is good but who does Ebay think all these changes are good for? I guess I thought Ebay was mostly made up of sellers like me but boy I am wrong about that.

Would you really trust Ebay to handle your merchandise??
Are they going to build warehouses all over the world??
This sounds like a pie-in-the-sky idea and a massive waste of time.

I am eager to see exactly what the procedure will be.
Will these warehouses sign off on exactly what they are getting? Quantity and Condition?
Will these warehouses take full responsibility of the merchandise received once in their possession?
Since this will be a paid service, they should be responsible for any damages or misplaced and loss items once in their possession INCLUDING damages to the items in transit (since THEY are the experts at packaging and shipping) as well lost items in transit (just as the seller has to take responsibility for items shipped by them).
What I REALLY am interested in this service for is never mentioned. I would TOTALLY use this service as a verification service to verify that the contents is exactly what my listing says it is. I recently had a buyer lie and claim that pieces of the purchase was not included in their order just so they can get a substantial refund on their purchase. After issuing a partial refund of 40%, not only did I take a huge loss on the profits from the buyer, Ebay also kept their TOTAL final value fees on the purchase adding to the loss. If the shipment would be verified by this warehouse, as it should, this would put an end to scammers like this and give the seller piece of mind when selling items, especially high end or more expensive items. I have expensive items I refuse to list because I refuse to take the chance of being scammed.

The main service that eBay should be focused on is a well-run and stable Selling & Buying Platform.
The added services are unnecessary transitional services, pivoting eBay into a more fee generated revenue stream.
PayPal was working fine and now everyone is upset with numerous technical issues and changes, as Buyers can't complete purchases and Sellers are losing sales.
Let's see what Managed Delivery will bring .....

Gregg: perhaps a bit of history will help you understand.......
Ebay had their own payment system originally, then they bought Paypal, then they spun off paypal....for profit for their shareholders. So they ran their own payment system for years.
Their venture back into the payment system is to generate profit for the Ebay multi national company that owes their primary allegiance to their shareholders. Likewise, the venture into Managed Delivery is a symbiotic move that relates to the core business and offers the chance for increased revenue...... With Elliot looking over their shoulder......these moves are obviously not some unthought out
move by management.
While we all have our gripes with the Marketplace and how it's run, the fact is it sells billions worth of goods each year....... the profits for shareholders is the major goal........not settling some feedback issue between a few sellers........
